I have been working at AutoZone full-time

    Pros

It's pretty easy work. That's about it though.

    Cons

I've been working for the company for almost 6 months I've been thrown around from store to store even when stressing that this is not what I agreed to management has acted as if they do not care. The hours are really long and management can pretty much talk to you any kind of way and it seems acceptable. When you talk to higher levels they do nothing about it. Training is so bad that you are basically training yourself to do the job.

    Advice to Management

Training is key for any establishment if you don't train your new hires the stores aren't going to be successful and you will continue to have high turnovers. Store managers need to be held accountable for their actions the should act like they know how to manage a group of people and treat them with respect and not talk to them how they see fit and definitely not in front of the customers.

I have been working at AutoZone full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

401k . 2 paid weeks a year vacation . 80 hours sick pay a year. if your a full timer.
if not your S.O.L. s#!t out of luck.

    Cons

I don't know how they sleep but h/r and upper management is a joke unrealistic goals no real support junk raises minimum wage pay bad corparte greed also the customers get better discounts then we do all they do is cry to corpoarte they get there butt kissed and get free stuff . if you want to move up plan on AZ being your life you are autozone autozone is you... makes me sick to my guts . tell your minimum wage no commission zoners there hired as salesmen but wait stock the shelf wait take out garbage but wait clean the toilet oh but wait install batteries but wait your a salesman ...wonder why we call this a revolving door job ... just disgusting modern day slavery

    Advice to Management

stop acting like the customer comes first . it's there money that does and trying to swindel them out of it into garbage they don't need snake grease lube and snake oil . I can't beleive how upper management manipulates "zoners" with fake values and crumby pins .. do it for pride they said more like there bonuses hell pride don't pay my bills . start treating your solders on the front line better or get use to your stock plummeting even more .

    Pros

    Coworkers and some managers
    20% discount
Networking with mechanics for some sweet deals

    Cons

Manager's expect too much from low level entry job. They want us to go above and beyond by changing customer's batteries, lightbulbs, wipers, etc. But want to pay us minimum wage and give us annual 10 cent raises.

    Advice to Management

Pay employees a decent wage and hire people with mechanical experience.

Pay is lousy, hours are never guaranteed, company benefits, are not realistics. Management is manipulated by Regional and Corporate Rules, Customer satisfaction is overplayed. Money first then customers.

    Advice to Management

Be reasonable, speak up to corporate so equality can exist, pay is not enough for the salesmanship that is expected.

I have been working at AutoZone full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Paychecks come out regularly. Some people are grateful for your help. They have heat and air conditioning. You learn a lot about people.

    Cons

Autozone asks a lot for below average pay. They make you quit if you ever want to pay bills. Erratic schedules make it impossible to balance a 2nd job. They make you buy your own uniforms and work on cars in dangerous weather.

    Advice to Management

Stop making people quit for more money. 2% raises in a 8% cost of living don't cut it.
Every week Autozone raises prices and employees feel abused. Pay for uniforms. It is disgusting that a 5 Billion dollar company forces near minimum wage earners to buy their own uniforms. Stop forcing employees to work outside in dangerous weather.

    Pros

Very few pros, opportunity to have great contact and work with people and create your own ideas.

    Cons

Over promises at the moment of hiring that never become reality and take the willingness to work in a good ambience.

    Advice to Management

Take the time to properly train your new people, especially if the ne comer is from outside the industry. Never hire a manager with no training and spec to have your best salesman, does not work that way.
