    Pros

The pay is decent if you can deal with the abuse. They also provide many community relations opportunities, which is really nice.

    Cons

Horrible leadership & culture, Boys Club, Dishonesty, Discriminatory practices, Heavily political, Micromanagement, Human resource corruption, Extremely unprofessional and uneducated employees, No communication.

    Advice to Management

Autotrader doesn't want advice. They want everyone to drink their kool-aid or get rid of the people who don't. The employee survey results were horrible last year and that was not the message delivered to employees. They are given the truth on a regular basis but prefer their diluted version of reality instead. The lies and corruption are disgusting and disturbing. They had it right once upon a time and have absolutely destroyed the culture and all the things that used to make it a great place to work. The view has become way too cushy from the ivory towers to care about what really matters....the people.

    Pros

    Flexibility, good salaries, good benefits

    Cons

    Boys Club runs the company

Employee discrimination occurs at many levels

Disconnect between messages sent by Executive leaders to employees and what is actually practiced at the Sr. Management level and below.

    Advice to Management

Sr. Management should actually listen to what the Executives are saying about the culture and open door policy and put it into practice in all levels of the organization. These actions by Sr. Management and below causes a major disconnect between Top level and all other levels of the organization. As well, this creates a culture of distrust rather than trust. Sr. Management should also consider managing people and issues in their respective departments as part of their jobs and not act as if issues within their deparments are non-existent or a nuissance to them.

    Pros

    Great Benefits Package
    Competitive Compensation
Beautiful Building with a cool game room/break room to hang out in on your breaks
    Great Colleagues
    Creative Environment
    Community Involvement
    Great brand

    Cons

It is not safe to question decisions, even if you are just seeking clarification. This is seen as not being a team player.
Certain leaders who are poor performers in their "area of expertise" are protected. It's more about the relationship than it is about producing a quality product.

    Advice to Management

The employees are not the enemies and are not children. Learn what true leadership is. Some humility would do you good.

    Pros

Ability to work from home, good base pay and benefits, some of the people were really nice, industry leading company that was profitable and growing.

    Cons

Micro management. Middle management is over valued and not necessary. Way too many changes and no sense of direction. Company was very arrogant about current status within the industry. They can throw a great party but couldn't take care of their employees woke life balance. Captive customers saw company as "necessary evil" and not a partner in their success. Customers knew company was most expensive option for digital marketing. The ROI just wasn't there.

    Advice to Management

Listen to employees closest to your customers vs over paid managers who are more interested in a promotion. Get back to the basics that made the company popular in the beginning. Beware of being seen as the "evil empire" of the automotive industry. Instead of random drug testing it should be mandatory.

    I worked at Autotrader full-time

    Pros

It's a part of the Cox family and there are a lot of jobs/opportunities available across the different companies. You also have access to many of the resources and amenities the other Cox companies have like the gyms, cafeterias, print centers, etc.

The facility is nice and is located in a great area (traffic is horrible around it though).

I had great experiences working at a couple of the other Cox companies but this one needs some help.

There's good work-life balance in some departments.

    Cons

They need to improve the criteria it takes to become a manager of people and also evaluate existing ones. There's extremely poor management in certain areas of the company. On my team there were several managers who lacked decision making skills, confidence, professionalism, drive, communication skills and knowledge of the company and our specific field. This is the main reason why a few members left the team and/or company.

Also, the company is constantly changing (which is great) but communication around change needs to be improved drastically. Goals/visions and major organizational changes were often unclear.

    Advice to Management

Please strengthen the criteria it takes to become and stay a manager/director. Some people need additional training classes, but others should not manage people at all. Poor management causes a lot of dysfunction on teams and decreases productivity. Please review which groups have high turnover rates. It's probably for a reason.

Also, better align employees talent/skills to positions. I think a number of people on my team could have been better utilized.

I have been working at Autotrader (Less than a year)

    Pros

I have nothing good to say about this company. It's a horrible stressful place.

    Cons

Culture has drastically changed. No one is truly happy. Management harasses the employee's and are constantly threatening ones job. Cant be late not even one minute, or your pretty much fired.

    Advice to Management

Be Real. The who you know instead of what you know and DO has to STOP!!

I worked at Autotrader (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Excellent Pay
    Great Benefits
Frequent pop up shops and expos for company partners.

    Cons

Start-up feel though an established company.
    Constant fear of layoffs.
    Poorly developed leadership.

    Advice to Management

Develop initiatives before rolling them out for team member projects. Team members will not be successful at any task or project if not given ample time to learn and understand what is expected of them.
