    I worked at Autotrader full-time

    Pros

A covered parking garage.... that’s about all I can think of.

    Cons

Management is unbelievable. Do you have a pulse? Can you type and see? Have you poked your nose around enough to the “right” people and expressed interest in management? Then you ready for management! I promise you... I worked my butt off to ensure that whatever my name was on represented the company to the fullest. I went over and beyond to deliver the best for our clients and internal customers. Unfortunately, I was not appreciated and overworked. It is so sad, but I am thankful that I was able to get out of this toxic environment and go to a company that sincerely loves and listens to their employees! At Autotrader, you’re left to feel like a robot... like you’re replaceable even if you have a wealth of knowledge. To be honest, it is really sad, but nothing is done about it. It is almost as if they sit in a room trying to figure out how to make hard working employees more miserable.

    Advice to Management

I really do not know what advice I can give that I haven’t already expressed. Products are outdated, the site is outdated, and great employees don’t feel appreciated (which is why they leave, including myself). Working at Autotrader is a game of favoritism, which is filled with closed minded “leaders”. A pay “increase” does not fill the void of feeling unappreciated; it may to some, but not for those that really desire a work life balance.

    I worked at Autotrader full-time

    Pros

Work/life balance, benefits, incentives, travel, great people on a local level, very good products

    Cons

Major dysfunction at upper levels, very inconsistent policies, pay is always adjusted, territories often realigned, cost of products are significantly more than competitors

    Advice to Management

Need to be better at dealing with local reps and smaller dealers. Feels like they cater to large groups in bigger cities. Also need to have their territories more aligned and easier for the reps to manage. Too spread out causing frustration in the ranks.

I worked at Autotrader full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Most of the employees have a great attitude and team cohesion was good.

    Cons

Associate Managers in the Inventory Department don't know any technical aspects of the job. It puts a strain on the senior team members because they're always having to go the extra mile to help. The management needs to learn the job more so they can help subordinates and senior members can focus more on their current responsibilities.

    Advice to Management

Learn at least the basics of the technical part of the job.

I worked at Autotrader full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Flexibility in schedule, benefits, earning potential, upgraded technology, home office supplies provided. Make your own schedule. Timely expense reimbursements. Excellent on boarding process and training program. They roll out the red carpet for new hires.

    Cons

Forecast driven, the needs of the employees are no longer a priority for the company every since Chip Perry left. They have been through 5 different CEO's, and have lost client trust. Tough product to sell because company is struggling with identity but continue to acquire other technology companies. No opportunity for advancement unless you are willing to uproot and move to another region.

    Advice to Management

Don't play favorites with dealer accounts it diminishes value. Learn to manage personalities not people and make the job fun. Sales is a highly stressful environment, the unnecessary added pressure only creates frustration. Be open to your ACs concerns. Don't bleed "Green" by dismissing market climates because the company says so. Fight for realistic expectations for your self as a DSM, and for your team as a region.
