    I worked at Avago Technologies

    Pros

Nice co-workers, good local management team

    Cons

Expects employees to give their all. Many feel the need to work while they are supposed to be on personal time (after hours, vacations, holidays).

    Advice to Management

Sacrificing employees to obtain a better bottom line isn't always the correct path.

I have been working at Avago Technologies

    Pros

I worked for LSI Corporation, a fantastic pro-employee company, rich with talent and R&D potential. Packaged out as soon as the deal closed, and extremely happy about it.

    Cons

This company bought LSI, and sold it off in chunks, simply a business transaction. There are some good people that were left behind, and are miserable. I don't think it will be long before they get an awesome opportunity elsewhere.

    Advice to Management

Leadership needs to remember they are only successful if they have loyal employees. When people no longer wish to work for you, you'll also be out. It will be hard for you as a leader, to repair your image with your employees if you appear to have no backbone. Use your voice, if it doesn't work or they won't listen, find a new respected role elsewhere before it's too late.

I have been working at Avago Technologies full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Portfolio of leading products with limited competition. This is the company strategy. It allows for strong prices and good operating income. The strategy has resulted in stock price improvements. Compensation is focused on long term components: weak salary; strong equity.

    Cons

Extreme focus on short term revenue and minimizing costs. Absolute minimum of benefits possible to keep employees. Leadership is completely focused on operating income. Buying established product lines and milking them for profitability is not good for the customers.

    Advice to Management

    Enjoy your bonuses

I worked at Avago Technologies full-time for more than a year

    Pros

The stock has been going up because the CEO focuses on squeezing every penny of cost out and is quick to dump any business that he thinks is not cutting it. If you can get some stock that is where you can see some income upside.

    Cons

100% financially driven. Employees are tools to meet the numbers. If you are happen to be in a group where the business looks good to the CEO you may be OK but if the business softens at all or your in an area that he doesn't think is up to his standards you should keep your resume up to date. The challenge that creates is that everyone seems to look out for themselves and erodes any team environment quickly.

    Advice to Management

    It is a long list.

I worked at Avago Technologies full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

If I was on the same pay plan as the CEO, I'd be happy as a clam.

    Cons

Unfortunately Im not on the same plan as the CEO and need to keep my job until retrement.

    Advice to Management

Share a bit more with the employees and don't get rid of those when their options begin to vest.

I have been working at Avago Technologies full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

    - Great colleagues, and cherishing the little that is left from Agilent/HP days. Environment WAS good, but getting no better. As long as senior management ridiculous targets does not trickled down, pressure on work is manageable. - Company makes lots of money, and appears to be a well managed company to investors - Working hours is good.

    Cons

    - Some greedy senior management, that are all afraid of the CEO. - Accountant driven company to the extreme, that only cares about the bottom line. Everything is about stock and shareholders value, and little if nothing about employee value. - Ultra cost sensitive senior management, especially the CEO, that perform cost cutting measures at the slightest lowering of revenue - Senior management reward themselves... handsomely, with the CEO and VPs getting all the cream. Little trickle down to lower levels. - Some senior management sets performance targets too high to show off year on year, but never achieved it, resulting in poorer bonus for the people. However, due to the cost savings generated by NOT paying deserving bonus, senior management possibly gets rewarded even more. - Little connection between some senior management and lower levels. All they talk about is making buckets of money, and making excuses for cost cutting/savings. Does not care about staff morale or feedback - Highly sandwiched middle management, that is constantly under extreme pressure to deliver, yet equipped with little or nothing to do so. - Low pay and pay increment compared with other companies

    Advice to Management

    - Please treat lower level employee as humans that deliver the goods. - Review the "hire and fire" culture. Good people are not commodities. - Engineering is the core of the company, but is eroding fast due to short-sightedness of chasing short term gain. - Stop compartmentalizing issues, and pretend that all is well. Morale is low for years, and don't keep equating everything with easy to twist statistics and... numbers.

I worked at Avago Technologies full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Many of the veteran employees are very talented and intelligent former HP employees who are innovative, hard-working, and are a genuine pleasure to work with. They are smart people working diligently under very challenging circumstances.

    Cons

CEO and VPs rule with intimidation and fear. It is a caustic environment where relentless pressure is placed on making the numbers each quarter while resources atrophy to maximize corporate profits.

    Advice to Management

You can motivate with respect, instead of fear, getting more productivity, creativity, and commitment out of your employees over the long run, and still produce amazing financials.

    Cons

    Advice to Management

Reward people well, matching their contributions.

    I worked at Avago Technologies

    Pros

The best reason to work at Avago is to make money, meeting incredible good people, and learn how to be innovative to do your job with little or no budget.

    Cons

The downside is they internal business ethics are compromised, Senior Management doesn't believe in Marketing and Advertisement and it's capabilities. There is very limited budget for Marketing and Advertisement, they also don't put a lot of emphasis into the web site, which would be the most inexpensive way to communicate to potential customers, current customers and vendors.

    Advice to Management

Pay attention to your employees, focus on fixing the foundation of the company and don't just focus on getting the company ready for going public. It would be important to pay attention to outside vendors and customers via blogs, open up communications and create deep rooted partnerships.
