    I worked at Avago Technologies

    Pros

Never seen a company that lets you sign up for as much OT that you can handle. If you want. And you can sign up for as little or as much as you want, 1hour OT to 12hours of OT in a day up to your decision how many hours you want to work in a week . Or dont do any OT at all up to you.

    Cons

12 hour shifts so its really hard if you have children to pick up from school or take to events I picked the 6pm to 6am shift because of this. Or you can work 6am to 6pm shift.

    Advice to Management

They need to not ask employees how other employees are working!! But spend some time working with them personally. So they know!! And cut out bad info from employees that are not managers.

I worked at Avago Technologies full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

Fair benefits, stock steady, company seems to stay ahead of other companies with new product. Some of the older employees are efficent , well trained and willing to answer questions that a poorly trained newby might ask.

    Cons

The middle management micro manages the cleanroom to the point of impeding the operators progress. Short staffed on most days, yet they call into the room to find out why there is a 4 minute gap from finishing one lot and starting the next when the 2 tools are across the fab from each other. No notice that your employees are frantic and stressed out. Bullies have figured out that management turns a blind eye to... their actions, which encourages more bullying. I have not heard of any raises for operators the past few years, temp people came in with higher wages than a full time employee. Full time employees were forced to take 40 hours vacation in the dead of winter to save the company money.

I have been working at Avago Technologies full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Avago has been expanding for the past ten years. Temporary job opportunities are available at Avago for the people around Fort Collins, Colorado.

    Cons

Nepotism and favoritism are entrenched throughout the company at Fort Collins and are used by the incompetent management for ranking and promotion, shutting out loyal and capable employees from their career opportunities.

    Advice to Management

Establish standardized and transparent criteria for ranking and promotion for fairness, for career opportunities for all employees, and for the long-term growth for the company.

I have been working at Avago Technologies full-time for more than a year

    Pros

The compensation for the job and what it entails is top notch. A nice bonus is paid out yearly based partially on your own performance. The majority of the individuals are a good bunch to work with. The industry is a strong one with growth possibilities.

    Cons

The individuals who are not good to work with really make it difficult and refuse to advance to the modern age. The advancement opportunities are touted but rarely appear. There is a sense of favoritism from the supervisor's to certain employees but albeit a small sample size.

I have been working at Avago Technologies for less than a year

    Pros

Chip fabrication is a fairly easy job to hold. Every process has a relatively simple process of operations that can be mastered in a few days. The more complicated processes are not more difficult so much as increasingly tedious. Co-workers can be hit or miss but it's easy enough to tune out the rabble and just focus on the work. Pay is fair and overtime is built in to the schedule. The work environment is... comfortable for the most part. The hours are long (12 hours shifts to keep the fab up 24 hours, 7 days a week), but you work in a block so you end up done with your "40" in only half a week.

    Cons

Management can be vague at times; the left hand doesn't always seem to know what the right is up to. None of the supervisors are particularly harsh or difficult to work with however. Show up on time and do your job efficiently and one won't recieve any hassle. The biggest con by far is the lack of job security as a contractor. Contracting doesn't usually come with much security, but the carrot seems to be dangled a... superfluous distance away from you as a contractor for Avago. The contract is 6 months with an option to renew and/or hire the contractor on before the 12th month. This would seem promising if it weren't for a lack of definitive input as to your hiring prospects from upper management.

    Advice to Management

Be more clear with your contractors about their opportunity. Working on a contract is fine, one knows what they are signing up for, but slightly more concrete answers regarding job security would be nice.
