    Pros

Great if you like helping inmates transition from prison to society, you get to do investigative work, on your feet, shift goes fast.

    Cons

If you even think about actually trying to help people, forget it. People don't care about helping people there. It is a job. Also don't turn your back or trust people because you will be disappointed.

    Advice to Management

Be better! You are above nobody.

I worked at Avalon Correctional Services full-time

    Pros

If u like helping formally incarcerated people get back on their feet then it is good.

    Cons

Staff fail to correctly follow Avalon's policies on Codes Of Ethics and Professionalism is out the door. Staff completely disrespect residents.

    Advice to Management

Offer a course on how to follow and abide by policies and procedures

I have been working at Avalon Correctional Services full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

    The Christmas party
Beautiful clean place to work daily
The office comradely within the office that does not include upper management vps marketing finance q/a
We had to build something within ourselves to hold on to everyday
The receptionist is the mold that holds the place together! She needs to be appreciated

    Cons

Lack of concern for people's personal life
Support or back up on the job and the functions of the job. Rules don't always apply to everyone. Seeing that you have employees who are honest and faithful, not making sure they are covered
    Very cliquish

    Advice to Management

Don't be afraid to build relationships and comradely with your employees. Employees that feel appreciated not used and that are thanked beside one time a year will work harder and put forth a better effort company wide.

    Pros

If you need a job, they will hire you. If you can show up daily, you keep your job

    Cons

Underpaid, underappreciated staff that causes a great deal of turnover. Training is terrible.

    Advice to Management

Back and support staff. Fill upper management positions with more qualified staff

I have been working at Avalon Correctional Services full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

I enjoy my administrators! They've always had my back...they've become like family to me.

    Cons

We have offenders with mental issues which can be difficult.

    Advice to Management

Increase the salary...due to the enormous responsibility the officers have concerning the residents I feel they should be compensated for their tenure and work ethics.

I worked at Avalon Correctional Services full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Hours may be ungodly, but they are stable.

    Cons

Low pay, brutal hours, very little training for what is a hazardous job. Management more interested in the bottom line than doing the right thing. Management at the Tulsa facility doesn't have the back of their case managers, security chief or officers unless they cow tow or suck up to the administrator. They are not so much interested in retaining employees at the Tulsa facility as trying to catch them screwing up so they can fire them. They will fight your unemployment if you are fired to keep from paying benefits...punishing people for working there. It is not a suitable company for anyone on this planet with any interest in law enforcement to work for...it will affect your future and possibly your life for years to come.

    Advice to Management

Get out of the business. You are corrupt and you do not deserve to be in business.
