    Pros

Great company to work for. AVB values and genuinely cares about their employees. Professional feedback is always encouraged by senior leadership and often time is acted on to make things better.

    Cons

Pay for certain departments compared to industry competitors is on the lower scale. Benefits packages could be more competitive as well.

Great place to work, but understaffed

Jun 8, 2022 - Community Consultant in Rockville, MD

    Pros

Pay is decent, benefits are really good. Staff and atmosphere are amazing. Hands down the nicest and most welcoming place I've ever worked. Training is long and extensive, but they totally set you up for success! Managers are very communicative and give good, constructive feedback (they regularly ask for feedback on themselves as well).

    Cons

Pay could be a bit more (other places starting wage is a little higher). Most communities are very understaffed right now so all employees are trying to pick up the slack. No option to work remote or do hybrid schedule for community consultant (leasing agent).

This Company is Both Owner & GC

Jun 24, 2022 - Project Engineer in New York, NY

    Pros

The company is both the owner and GC, this reduces frustration with endless paperwork formality. The company is generous with snacks, food, drinks, etc... The diversity of employee's is really good, especially for the industry. There are many great mentors with years of experience that are willing to teach.

    Cons

The work-life balance is the biggest issue. Although not "required" you will find yourself working 10+ hours per day (plus Occasional Saturdays).

RS politics - not what it use to be

    Pros

get paid to work no protection for maintenance staff

    Cons

Maintenance the face of the company who work through covid all day everyday gets the worst treatment and doesn't get the same growth opportunities. they dont list job posting internal nor externally. they treat minority as if we are not as smart and over work us then demote us. the majority will have the same job make worst mistakes and not get reprimanded. some of these guys go along and make their own rules.
