I have been working at Avanade full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Great company with smart, forward thinking, innovative people who care about your success not just the companies. Great training program and opportunity for growth if your willing to put in the work.

    Cons

At times Work/Life Balance could be better. No other issues at this time - I enjoy working for Avanade. Go Orange!!

    Advice to Management

Bring back the seven year sabbatical. Considering the time and hard work employees put in, two weeks additional time off after seven years is deserved.

I worked at Avanade full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Nice to say you work for ACcenture company and excellent excellent benefits. Nice share office space in Irving Texas - no reviews to worry about.

    Cons

NO ONE Knows who Avanade is - Accenture owns contracts and all client relationships and projects. Avanade is just a subcontractor that talks "no one will let you fail" yet "no ne is there to help you succeed ". Immediate terminations with no reason and no severance! BE CAREFUL HIGEST TURNOVER EVER

    Advice to Management

    Choose a good buyer

I have been working at Avanade as a contractor (More than a year)

    Pros

All team members are respected, included and valued, so even if you're a contractor or on a temporary assignment, you'll enjoy your experience and grow from it.

    Cons

Because it's a large, global company, you do have to put in some extra effort to make sure you connect with the people you need. But managers give a lot of support and guidance.

    Advice to Management

Keep up the great work. In such a shifting environment, it's hard to predict what clients will need and be prepared to deliver it. But from what I've seen, there is a strong commitment to good practices.

I worked at Avanade full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Training is good, benefits (ie: 401k and healthcare) are great

    Cons

Everything else about this company is awful. Leadership is selfish and focused on their scorecards, there's little concern for building a great place to work. Sales team can't spend any money to make money, there's little to no celebration. This company is officially a joke now. Very sad as they were once great to work for. Keep raising prices and maintaining your highly priced overhead and you'll continue to drive yourself into the ground. The companies sales outlook is grim, growth is lagging and management continues to lay off regularly. RUN away people - don't look at this company. The hire one day and lay off the next because chargeability is a management metric (understandable) but your lack of ability to be competitively priced has created a vicious cycle of HIRE AND FIRE based on your unpredictable sales demand.

    Advice to Management

Fire leadership - rebuild. Hard workers deserve to be treated better. Your clients deserve the best based on your HIGH costs, high contingency and buffer contingency (Avanade basically puts contingency on its contingency because they are so conservative and risk adverse).

I worked at Avanade full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

    Great smart people as team.
    Great training and experience
    Challenging projects.

    Cons

Owned by Big Brother Accenture and the are taking over the culture, lost the Microsoft culture which was part of startup. 75% of projects are run by Accenture and this limits growth above manager level. Accenture treats Avanade resources as second class citizens.
A lot of new upper management is sourced from Accenture.

    Advice to Management

Find a way to separate from Accenture or just join and become one company.

    Pros

Great training resources and work culture

    Cons

Inconsistent pipeline and crappy work life balance

    Advice to Management

10 years 0 severance when economy goes south is cold and tells you that you ain't worth jack other than a number. Good luck attracting good folks to come back when you shoot your own people and throw them out when you do not need them.

I have been working at Avanade full-time

    Pros

Great training and on-boarding process for new employees. Excellent senior management team who are willing to take the time to get to know you as a person and help develop your career. Limited travel as they try to find work close to home. Benefits are great. Overall the best job I have ever had.

    Cons

It does take time to learn the Avanade way. It takes about 4-6 months to really get going in your new position. Accenture (the parent company) is not always as friendly as one would think so you have to develop those relationships one person at a time.

    Advice to Management

Keep caring about the employees and they will take care of business.

I worked at Avanade full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Avanade is probably a great company to work for on the consulting side. Pay was reasonable and WFH opportunities were plentiful. Usually good camaraderie with your immediate team if the manager is competent.

    Cons

The UCCMS / managed services business built from acquiring Azaleos is an unmitigated disaster. Avanade turned this business into a toxic wasteland with incompetent and oblivious managers. Workers were leaving in droves (30 by the time of my departure and many more since) without a single position back-filled. The focus was on gaining very big customers that the team was not ready to handle while at the same time forcing away the smaller, long-term customers that were literally a license to print money.

    Advice to Management

Abandon the managed services business - stick to consulting work. You clearly have no idea about operational excellence and the delivery of managed services.
