    I worked at Avaya full-time

    Pros

In the heart of Silicon Valley.

    Cons

Leadership has no vision or strategy and execution on projects is poor. Executives think they can architect products better than the seasoned architectural engineers, which creates a lack of trust between engineers and management. Executive compensation is an old school model where they reward themselves first and don't value the teams that design/support the products that drive the business.

    Advice to Management

Stop outsourcing jobs and focus energy on leveraging current talent pool and hire locally. Get your head out of the ground and look around how innovative companies run their businesses.

I have been working at Avaya full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Good product, great partners, fantastic field team.

    Cons

The CEO and his constantly revolving door of executive VP lackeys are Unbelievably disconnected from the field.
    He fiddles while Avaya burns.
    He's Avaya's albatross cravat.
If John Chambers was Cisco's sugar daddy. This guy would be Avaya's salt daddy.

    Advice to Management

Leave. Take your millions in bonuses for keeping the wheels turning in Chapter 11 quicksand and just GO!

I worked at Avaya full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Money was good and did get to work with talented people.

    Cons

I worked my 14 hour days and at least 1 day on the weekend.
Now going through BK #11, it makes me wonder if anyone will be left of if the doors will close.
Top Management needs pay cuts, they are not managing the comp

    Advice to Management

Is there any management there that listens?

I have been working at Avaya full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

If you are a part of the sales team life can be good for 2 years or so at Avaya, however if you are with the engineering team life at Avaya is miserable so don't even think of working here.

    Cons

Wrong direction has cause the revenue to decline each and every quarter, the end is now near my friends. This stone is rolling down hill and it can't be stopped. Don't listen to the CEO hype because the revenue speaks for itself.

    Advice to Management

Your mismanagement of the company has cost thousands of Americans to lose their jobs, you should be in jail for what you did.

I worked at Avaya full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

great colleagues, and a good portfolio

    Cons

Terrible management. The same CEO for almost 10 years and he is Teflon - nothing sticks to him, despite his leadership driving the company into a steady decline. It is the Emperor's New Clothes.
High employee churn, no (literally) vacation time; it is discretionary, so you accrue nothing.

    Advice to Management

Resign. Let someone who actually has talent and cares about employees take over.

I worked at Avaya full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

    Experience gained while working there

    Cons

Layoffs nearly every quarter for 15+ years. Disconnection between leadership and workers. No transparency. Long hours, low pay. No raises, bonuses etc.

I worked at Avaya full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

    People in Services were great.

    Cons

Everything. Awful work environment, doesn't pay well, always fear of getting laid off. Worst benefits I have ever seen. Services customers treat employees horribly and the company accepts this. If customers don't escalate, they are treated very poorly themselves. Work/life balance nonexistent. The company pretends to have a good culture and good values but in reality, they are terrible. CEO is nothing but a puppet for the private equity firms-fires at will in order to make numbers.

    Advice to Management

Act like the employees and customers matter.
