    Pros

There is a lot of new blood in the company which seems to believe in the future of the company as a software and services company. Marketing and public outreach has increased over the last year. If you are young and energetic with a software background this may be an okay company. They are trying to increase the number of "fun" things they are doing on campus.

    Cons

Fewer and fewer workers supporting more products. Expected to work off hours on a regular basis because only co-workers may be on three other continents. No raises. Increased health care costs while decreasing health care coverage. Now requires most workers to come into the office for at least three days a week, or will fire for cause, even though they may have been telecommuting for years and have no co-workers in their office.

    Advice to Management

You say that the work load is going down as we move from hardware to software, but that isn't true on the networking side. We are still supporting all the same hardware as before while adding cloud solutions with fewer people then we had before the layoffs and voluntary purge of 2016.

I worked at Avaya full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great money and very little accountability. Little to no oversight. Great brand gets you in doors this has to be 20 words but that's it.

    Cons

Long list here. I was part of the Networking group for context.
Company wide: benefits administration was a disaster. Several accounts in collections because they repeatedly failed to get my son added to insurance after 12 months of saying it was 'fixed this time'. 30 days into cobra and the amount is still wrong despite 'fixing it' 3 times. Such a joke.
Constant turnover in key positions on the street means no one is accountable for company failures and plenty of unkept promises to customers.
No real opportunity as new business of any significance is immediately taken over by managers and run to close to their benefit and progress. Individual contributors should not come to Avaya.
Networking unit is a compete mess. Entire sales engineering mgmt has left company and any SE worth their salt is gone as well.
Nearly impossible to execute to goals with constant turnover and no engineering help. Company refuses to sell architectures or engage in infrastructure conversations because they have no consistent vision or ability to tell customers what the product will be doing tomorrow.
Complete disconnect between sales and product management. No communication.

    Advice to Management

Stick around long enough to make meaningful change. Empower employees with tools and resources to close business and allow individual contributors the opportunity to develop careers through meaningful work and additional opportunities.

    Pros

work from home flexibility is a plus but it is negated by the negative culture environment in the headquarters office

    Cons

the company is going through a major transformation - layoffs every month kill the morale. the executives are clearly only focused on their own personal/financial success and care little about the employees who have worked hard and have committed to the company

    Advice to Management

start appreciating the talent you have or there won't be much talent left.
