Clueless and rackless management, no transparency and accountability throughout the company
Oct 16, 2008 - Distinguished Member of Technical Staff in Lincroft, NJRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Avaya pays well compared to the rest of the industry. But I expect that to change just like all the great benefits that have slowly disappeared.
Cons
Clueless and rackless management. Giancarlo is talking a good game but hasn't implemented one bit of what he is saying.

Pros
- Team is the best I've ever had - The work/life balance is terrific depending on your management - Great place to earn your stripes, learn a lot, and build your resume
Cons
- Removed our Employee Stock Purchase Program - Removed our 401k matching - Increased our health insurance rates - Pay is dismal if you're trying to support a family - CEO claims that we will get our benefits back in 2027; meanwhile he makes $16M/yr

Pros
Home office, Flexible hours, Decent pay
Cons
Uneven commission structure. You do good one year and they ensure that your quota is such that you won’t do it again. Layoffs seem to make no sense. Valuable employees are let go seemingly at random. No clear career path. The benefits are horrible and costly. I had better insurance 20 years ago and at a 30 person company.

A company with apparent hostility towards it's US and North American employees that is drastically shrinking itself.
Aug 4, 2013 - Senior Software Engineer in Highlands Ranch, CORecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
The money was there, and the flexibility to work from home. The people left are still top notch, even if they are incredibly overworked.
Cons
No career path or growth. No bonuses or pay raises. Quarterly staff reductions and 'Enhanced Separation Packages' with yearly furloughs targeted only at the US employee base. Health benefits that were once decent and competitive are a joke now. There is no matching 401k as all matching (50% of the first 3% contributed) is tied to EBITDA numbers the company has never once met. Morale doesn't exist anywhere in the company. When the Senior Managers and Directors openly complain about how bad it is on conference calls, there is a serious problem and no one seems to care. Constant staff cuts and outsourcing has erased all loyalty to the company and put in place an 'I don't care what happens to this place' attitude with the employees. Senior Management repeatedly acting like they know how to run our customers business better than they do as they force new processes and products out the door.

"Great company with quality products"
Apr 15, 2009 - Post Sales Engineer in Denver, CORecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
They pay very well. Benefits are also good though they have stopped matching employee contribution to the 401(k) plan as of March this year.
Cons
Organizational changes happens every 2-3 months. Loads of admin work. Offshoring support services has led to decreased service quality.

Pros

Cons
Benefit are low and hard to get your voice out there
- Current Employee, more than 3 years★★★★★
Pros
I can work in flexible environment and working hours.
Cons
benefits are not satisfied and i don't see the growth in near future with it.
- Current Employee★★★★★
Pros
Lots of opportunity to move around within the company. Pay appears to be on par or better than most equivalent jobs elsewhere. Great technology available to work from home, although not always welcomed in some groups.
Cons
Benefits are declining rapidly year over year and appear to be far less competitive than elsewhere. 401k match is almost non - existent since it's tied to company performance and HSA contribution require jumping through hoops like completing certain health programs, which nobody has time to do. Management ranks aren't given set vacation days but rather discretionary time off, which means there is no accrual to pay out if you are laid off or leave for any reason. Bonus potential is, in theory, very high but seldom paid out due to company performance.

Network Integrator II
Dec 4, 2016 - Network Integrator II in Springfield, VARecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Good Work Life Balance, Potential to learn more about Avaya Product Line. Good Employee In-Processing Procedure. Good Starting Vacation and Sick time.
Cons
Feels like you are just a number here. Company is extremely focused on profits and will conduct lay offs if contracts are lost. Health Care Benefits are extremely Expensive and coverage is minimal.
