Pros
Company is under attack from Cisco and Microsoft as well as new technology firms putting telephony into the cloud. The private money firms that own the company have not been able to relaunch it as a public firm for many years and management has been forced to continue with personnel cutbacks to improve margins. New employees are subject to release and long time employees get to fill those vacancies.
Cons
Tough industry and a management team that has not delivered spells trouble and continued downsizing. Think hard before joining this firm.

Avaya Canadá is a joke.

Work from home, cell phone,
Cons
Honestly, I can’t wait until after the pandemic to leave. This company’s management is equivalent to a grade 12 thesis project. Every leader at Avaya should be looked into and their Amex should be audited, starting from the top. No one knows about Avaya, the company has no marketing no brand awareness, partners hate us. No one enjoys working here and everyone here is here because they’re waiting to retire and can’t leave because of pension. It is the most toxic environment I’ve ever been in. Avaya is not a leader in telephone and management has no idea what they’re doing.

Intelligent, Loyal Peers, but Company Averse to U.S. Employees
Oct 8, 2015 - Software Engineer in Thornton, CORecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Talented and intelligent co-workers in development organizations Vast majority of local managers are very competent, supportive and experienced Most employees do their best for the company, are helpful and team-oriented
Cons
Software development is being moved outside of the US as quickly as possible, requiring early morning meetings and sometimes evenings. Very little mobility within the US Mistakes by the top levels of management has resulted in years of decline and constant cost-cutting measures

No idea where we're going
Jul 13, 2016 - Sales Engineer in New York, NYRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Work from home policy is great Embedded base is pretty loyal Day-to-day freedom to get your job done Base salary is solid Interesting work
Cons
Constant changes in upper management (senior VP level and secondary cxo suite) prevents initiatives/strategies from playing out Debt load is brutal and despite being the clear driver behind layoffs/furloughs management cherry picks stats to deny it as an issue in internal messaging. Layoffs don't seem to have much thought behind them other than the balance sheet - positions are eliminated that almost immediately require backfill Account managers are rarely knowledgable about what they are selling which puts a huge strain on the shrinking SE teams - management is either unaware of this or do not see it as an issue. Business partner community is coddled and can complain there way into being allocated resources, discounts and exceptions from certification requirements

Avaya...does anyone care about them anymore?
Nov 3, 2008 - Product Management Director in Basking Ridge, NJRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Now that they are private, I can't think of a reason. It is a very difficult and mediocre place to work.
Cons
The ship is rudderless and senior management seems to be the only ones who don't know it. I don't think anyone in senior management has noticed that people just don't show up for work anymore. They were reasonably upbeat -- but suspicious -- when the company went private but the former management team has been largely removed and replaced with people who haven't had time to find out where the bathroom is -- let alone leading the company forward. It is an environment where they are cutting their way to making the numbers.

Long work hours without work life balance but good exposure
Oct 19, 2022 - Sr. Revenue AnalystRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
1 Provide good exposure to industry related things. 2 Open to train employees. 3 questions and ignorance is not taken as shortcoming and Management helps to understand things. 4) Respect of person and employee
Cons
1 Never ending work. 2 daily 6 to 8 hrs call and then work, total shift timing 15hrs without holidays. 3 As compared to work perks are too low. 4) no work life balance, you cant even plan to take rest on holidays

Pros
Structured process of work at different departments according some methodology and tools. Top management share ideas and plans with workers.
Cons
Management is not focused for sales.Decisions are taken too much time and too complicated until missing the market. Too much overhead on reporting mechanism. Experienced workers who are forced to leave the company are benefiting badly in compare to peer companies.

Pros
Good work-life balance Freedom to access Internet especially social networking sites
Cons
No Strategic plan for employees, have tactical plans only Not a single professional or career enhancement trainings to support function employees like IT, HR, Payroll, etc. Sudden change in upper management (specially at executive level) is not good for employees PMP process is completed after year end, which must be completed before year end like other companies and hike must be given on 1st day of new year Do not want to retain employees even best performers No early talk about pay hike, promotion and bonus (which is also part of employees' package) No respect or importance for support function employees Don't have money to give to support function employees but gives good amount to only R&D, Sales, Marketing teams and senior management Always have budget problem for support functions including pay hike, promotions etc. but not for other functions Age old technologies and poor infrastructure Decision process takes too long is not dynamic

Not good almost cost me everything
Mar 6, 2014 - Professional Services Consultant in New York, NYRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Did not see any. Local management was interested in a takeover so they could cash out from previous investment. The all left and new management had to restart local branch. New management is excellent but it must be tough on her in NYC.
Cons
Did not enjoy experience. I came from Nortel and they did not beleive in selling the newest products they had. Old sales guys sold old gear and new apps sat on the shelf. Contact Center was not backed by management and they let it ride casuing many in CC sales to bale out. Loss of excellent people to other companies. Cause of heart attack from the stress and loss of short term memory. It was too much. No enjoyment. Many Nortel customer left on the side of the road. I now make extra cash cleaning up the customers they let slide.. Any WFO or Call Recording folks it is ripe for picking

What is strategy
Apr 9, 2013 - Senior Sales Engineer in Atlanta, GARecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Good company, good people, strong market share, better capabilities than Cisco, Microsoft, etc.
Cons
Great product and prices but market is not always of everyting we do, like Video conferencing, speech analytics, how reliable the products are. The message is not being marketed well. Management does not seem to 'have your back' and won't push for needed changes. Roadmaps on products change often and promised capabilties are often missing. They have cut headcount to the point that installations are taking too long, especially in more complex implementations. Partner is preferred sales channel, but partners seem to be focused on low value sales and won't improvie their skills to sell higher margin and value applications.
