Pros
There are so many smart people who work at Avaya. People are very nice, yes, you do have to work longer hours sometimes, but, I rather do it with people I enjoy working with. As the company is in the process of transition, there are so many opportunities for early career employees to learn, to grow, and to develop.
Cons
The compensation structure is not very great here at Avaya. You do not always receive a bonus or a salary raise even you have a great performance. Again, for early career folks, it is not all about money, opportunity and development are very important too.

Executive Assistant
Jul 13, 2015 - Anonymous Employee in Santa Clara, CARecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
The Best part of working at Avaya are the people.
Cons
Poor management. Benefits are not so good, salary not good. There are folks that have been working for 3+ years and still have not received salary increase. Motivation is down and there are folks that have quit and or talk about quitting. Does not matter how late you work, but need to be in the office at 8:00 a.m. You are watched at all times, it makes it difficult to be there. However, employees encourage each other. The folks that do have the incentives and above and beyond salary is the executives. When they decide on cutting cost, it's taken from the employees, not management. If you know how to sweet talk and kiss up you're favored, otherwise your no one.

Avaya might offer you good salary as attrition rate at Avaya has gone very high due to bankruptcy. New people are also not joining.
Cons
Frequent Leadership changes Frustrating work culture Short term thinking Fear of layoff Rumours Inexperienced people Sales Loosing deals due to bankruptcy No transparency by senior management Read more at thelayoff.com before deciding to join Avaya

Very very good work life balance
Mar 23, 2021 - Anonymous EmployeeRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Work life balance is good. Initial salary at the time of joining is at par with market (But may not grow for next 2-3 years)
Cons
No growth. They do not do salary revisions after hiring the employees for almost 2-3 years. Also promotion is close to impossible unless you spend another 4-5 years in same role.

Mediocre Company in Survival Mode

Super flexible work - 100% remote at this point Not micromanaged
Cons
Company and revolving leadership are all obsessed with cost-cutting Transition to Cloud and Subscription models are not successful Old-school (1980s) mentality about work Company culture is toxic and most employees are ready to retire Not agile in the least No innovation - always playing catch up to competitors Steady salary but almost no bonuses and no promotions over the last 8 years I've been there No training, no support - you're on your own to just 'figure it out' Other employee personalities are a major obstacle - pessimism about change abounds

Dissatisfaction is increasing
Nov 2, 2009 - Marketing Manager in Basking Ridge, NJRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Great people, many whom have been around for a long time Interesting work Rewarding when you see your impact on the business
Cons
Used to be able to telecommute full time using our tools and showcasing our products, but now HR wants people in to increase 'collaboration'; we should be using what we sell to better market it No bonuses this year except spot bonuses No salary or Cost of Living increases again yet the cost of living keeps going up unbearably
