I worked at Ave Maria University full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

My position offered free housing in a 3 bedroom 2 bath condo. Condo was in good shape and I lived with other coaches. My position also included a free meal plan at the student cafeteria.

    Cons

Sometimes paycheck would arrive several days late which could put someone in a bind if they needed the money on the day it was expected. Also it sometimes took over a month to receive reimbursement checks on expenses you paid for ok behalf of university.

    Advice to Management

Put more of an emphasis on your athletic programs. It's hard to be successful if the administration and university isn't behind them 110%.

    Pros

It's really easy to get to know people fast, even in different departments, and most students and fellow employees are great people.
The school and the town are intertwined and there are some pretty great (non-work-related) events as a result.
    The benefits are competitive.

    Cons

    The school is pretty remote.
Unless you are able to live in the town itself, it might not be worth the daily commute for the salary you make.
Might feel a little out of place if not Catholic.

I have been working at Ave Maria University full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Able to serve the students and that is rewarding.

    Cons

It has become a difficult place to work, upper management has no clue on what it takes to run the university.

    Advice to Management

Open your eyes and do whats best for the mission, not what is best for your personal gain.
