    Pros

    Gratifying to teach students how to use the tools they're given to make careers for themselves. Decent pay.

    Cons

    Long hours, no benefits, hard for work/life balance.

    Appreciate your people more; they're working so hard and doing the best they can.

    Pros

    Discounts, retail staff was fun.

    Cons

    No support, money driven, unrealistic goals , no work/life balance, managements didn’t know how to mange. Favoritism , back stabbing and fake ness . I can go on and on

    Pros

    Preparing future cosmetology professionals. Helping to mold students into well equipped and knowledgeable stylists. Working with an amazingly talented group of educators who supported one another.

    Cons

    Worst experience as an educator ever! Management lacks the skills or knowledge as to the field of cosmetology itself. Management was most concerned with utilizing the student population to sell products. Most schools concern themselves with state board pass rates, placement, ensuring students complete the program etc. Aveda could care less, thier motive is product sales second to that is service sales. Management is not concerned with allowing educators and opportunity to voice his/her opinion on ways to improve morale. It's thier way or else you'll have a target on your back. I would not recommend to anyone whom is passionate about education...that is not the primary focus.

    Discounted Products and the AVEDA brand.

    Cons

    Terribly unorganized, lack of drive (nice to way complete laziness on behalf of management), unethical policies when it came to creating and forging contracts, incompetent management, overworked and underpaid. The staff turnover was absolutely astonishing where we needed new educators/retail/financial aid/admissions managers every 3 months. It is a really toxic environment, not only for the staff but for the students who ultimately suffer. When you read reviews containing that the management is terrible, and literally will come to you and tell that your "replaceable," PLEASE take it to heart. I didn't and learned my lesson. Please understand that this review does not reflect true AVEDA policies and culture. This review is specifically about Neill Corporation/Beauty basics that own AVEDA schools predominantly in the south.

    Advice to Management

    They will ask you constantly for advice and feedback and say it's confidential. In reality it goes right back to your superior, which creates a hostile environment and doesn't affect change. I gave enough advice; there is absolutely no need to repeat that here.

    If you show up and do your job you will be left alone and not micro-managed which is nice.

    They do tend to pick favorites.

    Aveda itself has incredible beliefs and mission

    Cons

    Zero communication. Leadership in the corporate offices do not act appropriately. Its clear this company only cares about dollars and thus runs with the only the business in mind and not the educational side.
