I worked at Aveda full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Benefits, especially the discount...it's 74%!

    Cons

Everything else. Unfortunately this once amazing employer has finally fallen to the Estee Lauder wayside becoming just like the rest. It's no longer about the conection, it's about the sale...bottomline. Leadership only is supportive when numbers are high.

    Advice to Management

Good luck with all the new gimmicks.

I have been working at Aveda full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

    Products Smell Good. Good benefits.

    Cons

Consistenly launching new programs never allowing for follow up. Marketing on everything is weeks behind. A new emergency every day. You are really never able to do your job because of constant changes to workload.

    Advice to Management

Ask the sales team about programs and incentives before you launch them. We know what will fly and what will flop. Pick a program and stick with it. Everything is such a flash in the pan we are on to the next thing before we finishing launching something. Bogged down in office doing nonsense tracking instead of growing sales. Too much forecasting paperwork...let us selll....that's what we do. We can help you formulate incentives....the marketing team is not out in the field we are! D

I worked at Aveda part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Aveda really hand picks their employees with their company mission in mind. They go through a lot of training sessions to keep you up to date with the latest technology in hair, skin and body care. The company encourages you to live an environmentally conscious life. They had plenty of fundraising sessions throughout the year where they gave back to the environment.

In the workplace: hours are flexible, management is organized and reliable.

    Cons

I can't think of any! It is a very great company to work for. The discount is one of the highest I have ever heard of in the retail industry.

    Advice to Management

Keep up the great work! Management creates a great environment and friendly competition to keep sales going.

    Cons

Too many focuses at the same time
Not enough hours to do facial appointments
    Unrealistic secret shopper expectations
    Competing with online

    Advice to Management

I have been working at Aveda full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Discount is amazing! Trainings for new launches are very well verbalized. Pay is great, especially for a college student. The mission statement.

    Cons

There is no work/life balance. Management is very poor, such that they gossip instead of trying to gain knowledge on particular situations. Only store managers and asst store managers get fair treatment, leaving out the part timers who suffer the most.

    Advice to Management

Corporate should perform quarterly reviews for the team because the management team will always say everything is fine when for the rest of the team, it isn't.
