I worked at Aventura Hospital and Medical Center full-time for more than a year

    Pros

It is a convenient location if you live in Aventura or North Miami.

    Cons

They have very high patient to nurse ratios. Bedside nurses have no voice. They are for profit so they care more about making money than providing good patient care. They have an extremely outdated computer system. They dont have enough lift equipment so employees frequently get injured attempting to lift patients. Management instructs staff to give better treatment to "VIP" patients who have more money or know somebody higher up. 12 hr shifts turn into 14 hr shifts on the regular because of chronic understaffing. I could go on and on.

I have been working at Aventura Hospital and Medical Center full-time

    Pros

    Sign on bonuses are competative.

    Cons

It's a coorperate business and as a nurse, you can definitely see that money os very very important to the hospital which takes away from supplies and proper staffing. Adequate supplies, up to date equipment and staffing are all slacking which takes away from giving the highest quality of care to our patients. The managment does not seem to value their nurses here despite all the back-breaking and mentally draining work that weighs on our shoulders.
