I have been working at Avenue Stores full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

working with customers and good cust service experience .

    Cons

low pay ...with zero rewards for selling magazine subscriptions and creditcards. extremely LOW PAY.

    Advice to Management

managements not the problem its the money hungry CEO who choices to not appreciate the employees at the end of the day. no raises ...no pat on the back but plenty of you can do better. tgey offer a pay out zone but it only goes to managers which is completely unfair as all work hard to get the store in the payout zone . will be quiting soon . oh and super old registers and computers.

I worked at Avenue Stores full-time

    Pros

I honestly never felt like I hated a job before working here because of the manager and district manager

    Cons

This company is behind in the Times technology wise. Job is only recommended for people 35 and up . If the person is a gen x they don’t need to work at this company.

Worked here for some time and was told that I was to stupid to have a degree and shouldn’t even have a job because my generation was raised on computers

Would never recommend anyone to work for this company.

    Advice to Management

Highly doubt to see this company continue with forms of payment changing and advancements in tech.

    Pros

You work with some really nice women. Nice relationship with customers. Build experience in a retail setting.

    Cons

Horrible pay with demanding expectations. No budget for upgrading stores such as painting and carpeting. Air conditioner rarely function properly in both stores that I worked in which made it difficult to reach sales goals because it was unbearable for the customer. Constantly pushing credit and magazine goals by any means necessary otherwise you're meant to feel like the worst person on the face of the Earth by demeaning comments by upper management. They will try to get away with not reimbursing you for mileage when you have to travel to the bank. A very shady company that does not appreciate their employees that have been there for several years. The majority of the people that work for this company are stuck and stay out of desperation or they are just comfortable there's nothing very appealing or motive to want to stay here.

    Advice to Management

Treat your employees better offer better salary and benefits. Upgrade your stores have more hip clothing.

I worked at Avenue Stores full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

The company gives you a lot of opportunities to make extra money with contests and sales spiffs. Gives a good company discount.

    Cons

The pay isn't exactly competitive and don't expect to make much money at all if you are not management. They make changes too frequently without proper notice to employees and staff so nobody is ever on the same page.

    Advice to Management

Value your employees more or at least lower your standards if you are going to barely pay them more than minimum wage.

    Pros

Great work life balance, good discount!

    Cons

Time management can be a challenge as work load for day and week not realistic some weeks while other weeks are less demanding! No technology for promotional set ups or mark downs.

    Advice to Management

Plan out promos and floor sets for separate weeks. Invest in new programming for systems to update stores.
