    Very good trucking company.

    Pros

Worked for Averitt Express for over 2yrs. Good miles and good pay home every weekend if you want to be. Definitely recommend.

    Cons

Dealing with some of the dispatchers other than your fleet manager. Driver needs to keep up with a layover pay making sure you get paid for it.

    Pros

Good equipment, mostly good freight. Home most weekends even though I didn't want to. I'm single, want to run. Go.

    Cons

Management and fleet managers don't want truck drivers, but trained monkeys, mindless robots to do what you're told, regardless. If you think for yourself, you're screwed. I drove here for 2 years. The older drivers here are total SELLOUTS.

    Pros

Solid company . Good Benefits . Training was great . All the people I have worked with are helpful and understanding.

    Cons

Fleet manager left me sitting to much . Everything that came out of his mouth I needed to divide by 20 and then subtract 50 . Poor miles . Need to work 6 days to get 2000 miles

    Good trucking company

Jun 9, 2014 - Driver in Decatur, AL

    Pros

They have a lot of service centers all over the Southeast with fuel, shop, showers and breakrooms. Upgrading these. Great health insurance - Blue Cross, Blue Shield of TN. Mostly good new equipment. Upper management and fleet managers seem to care about drivers. Good miles and home most weekends.

    Cons

Sometimes picking up at small, out of the way places with challenging docks. No pet policy. Must wear uniforms, though they are provided.

Rocky start, still growing on me but keeping my options open with other companies.

    Pros

Home on weekends, uniforms are nice and red

    Cons

From jump recruiters will tell you what you want to hear, just to get you behind the wheel, you will be out on loads in areas you hate and voice to management that you hate , forced dispatched to the fullest, no load options, rare drop and hooks, lots and lots of live loads . Drivers are punching bags and fleet managers take heat for terrible planning from driver’s, planners and operation are the real problems. You have to wait 90 days for insurance while doing the most dangerous job in America, hope you’re in good health while most companies offer 30/60 days.

    Honest Review

    Mar 14, 2019 - Regional Truck Driver

    Pros

AVERITT is a great company provided that it fits with what you are looking for from trucking. PROS. Good home time doing your 34 hour reset at home. The fleet managers and load planners do an outstanding job with this. Good equipment including trailers. Trailers and tractors are regularly pulled out of rotation when they get old. Good benefits. Currently AVERITT has BCBS with health incentives to lower your premiums, such as non smoker reduction and health screening reduction. Plenty of service centers in the running area to do a 10 or drop your trailer to bobtail for a quick bite. AVERITT is very driver responsive and actively seeks to find ways to build on strengths to keep drivers happy. Management is very proactivegement is very proactivegement is very proactive starting with fleet managers but supported by an active driver support specialist division.

    Cons

Now notice I didn’t list pay as a pro. AVERITT has a competitive CPM for a regional company, but you won’t be banging out a lot of miles here. If you are getting home every 34, you won’t have a lot of running. You can drive weekends, but since the company is regional the load planners aren’t as active to find loads for weekends. Average checks can range from $600 to $850 a week for regional truckload. Sometimes more sometimes less. To be fair, management tries to help offering LTL running incentives, minimum mileage for runs and layover/detention pay but weekly take home pay is what it is. For truckload you will do your first six months to a year in an older tractor (5-6 years) until a newer one becomes available. Tractors get sold off around 650k miles. Freightliners and Volvos. AVERITT has a strong supply division, dedicated division and LTL division, often seen as the ‘bread and butter’. Truckload is often treated like red headed step children and many drivers push to get out of truckload as soon as possible. The service centers maintenance shops are hit and miss. Some are good some are horrible. You can however grab a hotel room for a long repair, don’t be surprised if your APU takes three separate trips to fix. Riders are limited to spouses. No pets.
