I have been working at Avery Dennison (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Market Leader. Flexible work schedule.

    Cons

Lack of transparency. Too many organizational changes within a short period of time. Management does not appreciate employees.

    Advice to Management

Communicate more. Listen to employees. Treat employees better. Re-organize smarter, not more frequently.

I have been working at Avery Dennison full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great people to work with. Friendly atmosphere. Great 401k and health insurance.

    Cons

Layoffs happening every 6 months since I started 4 years ago. Which is a part of the business but a lot of layoffs were handling with no care for employees and their families like getting rid of people right before Christmas. All of this produces a lot of doubt and angst throughout the company. Everyone is walking on eggshells because of lack of job security. Management changes always happening and no clear set path from top management on how to be successful.

    Advice to Management

Don't look at your employees just as numbers. Actually train out employees when you say you will.

    Pros

    Lots of resources, training opportunities

    Cons

MBAs are put in control to technical peers. Management changes rules all the time, and don't know what to do exactly. Just trial and error for their management work.

I worked at Avery Dennison full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Pay was good, T shirts, and milestone marking good. Leadership principles were good words but not followed. The idea is present for a good business.

    Cons

Always tearing down what was established instead of building on it. Not really gaining any benefit from constant rehash of same problem solving.

    Advice to Management

Quit Rockstar mentality, destruction not equal to innovation.

I worked at Avery Dennison full-time

    Pros

    The compensation is very competitive.

    Cons

Inadequate leadership skills and poor decision making. Management is condescending and does not care about their employees.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your employees and treat them with respect or you will continue to lose talented individuals who are not set up for success in the current environment.

I worked at Avery Dennison full-time

    Pros

My coworkers who I worked with on third shift were really nice people and stood up for one another most of the time.

    Cons

Management was horrible and didn't look after their employees very well at all. They take the word of management over the average worker and do not care what their workers say.

    Advice to Management

Do not always take the word of the team leaders because they choose favorites and do not do their own work half of the time.

    Pros

Avery has competitive pay, great benefits, with work flexibility, exceptional co-workers. This in the right circumstances can make for a great working environment.

    Cons

Poor Managerial organization. Upper management protect each other and will twist words and situations to better themselves while pushing down the people under them. Sales staff not always trained on what they are selling.

Biggest problem, management does not like input on products, working environment or ideas about how to make the business better. Expect backlash if you do.

    Advice to Management

Take more ethics courses and be more mindful of the people below you.

I have been working at Avery Dennison full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Good / above average benefits for health. Offers 401k. Potential career advancement for those willing to play the corporate game and act the right way without rocking the boat. Many good people at lower levels who have a lot of knowledge and are willing to help.

    Cons

Complete lack of work-life balance. Work load is overwhelming. High stress with unrealistic deadlines. Most management lacks experience and quality. Training and support is surface level only. It's a company that loves corporate lingo without really believing or exhibiting full commitment to the ideals.

I have been working at Avery Dennison full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Pretty great people, some sense of community, new products are interesting, good pay, opportunity to be creative in most assignments

    Cons

Most of the leadership fails to give equal treatment across the board or at least provide transparency into real opportunities they see in the future for their employees. Many leaders also also fails to not only acknowledge, but assist, when their employees are overwhelmed with workload or requests coming their way.

    Advice to Management

When employees are overly stressed, take the extra time to change their scope, or at least re-frame the timelines of their projects to make working there still enjoyable. Many employees start happy and leave relieved when their workload is taken off their shoulders.
