I have been working at Avery Dennison full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Engaging culture, collaborative work, vertically integrated, fun place to work, diverse age groups in workforce, global locations, competitive compensation, work/life balance

    Cons

Lacks of production and manufacturing knowledge across upper management of all value streams makes it difficult to explain why new products need operations support in the R&D phase

I worked at Avery Dennison as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

Avery has a great, open culture, and everyone at the company is welcoming. They truly value work-life balance. They have a report out structure that can potentially lead into a full-time offer.

    Cons

The internship itself and the duties of the intern were unorganized. It felt as if management was trying to plan the internship as it went along. Also, Avery's products are not incredibly exciting.

    Advice to Management

Plan internships ahead of time, and go over a basic outline of projects with the new intern. Still leave room for flexibility, but give them an idea of what they will be spending their time on.

    Pros

Just started working for the company and so far, no complaints. Great benefits and 401k!

    Cons

Not enough employees at current location so more work is put on select employees and pay is below other ink companies.

I have been working at Avery Dennison full-time

    Pros

Fast paced, entrepreneurial environment. The amount of success and career growth you achieve is up to you. Strong support for diversity, sustainability, and innovation. Flexible work schedules. Global collaboration. A push to explore different positions & opportunities within the company. Great compensation. Ability to develop expertise in as many areas as your curiosity will take you. Nobody will tell you no. If you have an idea or passion, go for it!

    Cons

Too many meetings. Corporate environment. Feeling of hierarchy. Many systems which complicates on-boarding and makes daily work a bit more cumbersome. Difficulty in taking vacation from a standpoint of always being "connected". Too much job transition and seemingly high turnover, even within the leadership. As expertise is developed, roles are changed and knowledge is lost.

    Advice to Management

Keep up the good work. When considering organizational changes, if it isn't broke, don't fix it. Passion and enthusiasm go farther to our success than specific experience or degrees alone.
