I have been working at Avery Dennison full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Flexibility, friendly people. Driven but collaborative environment. Innovation is encouraged.

    Cons

Sometimes it takes awhile to get changes made.

    Advice to Management

Be able to delegate responsibility and allow people to move quickly to get things done.

    Pros

Hands down, the culture. The best environment I've ever worked for. Love the people and open atmosphere. Not a lot of politics, more about making good sound business decisions. People treat business as if it were their own money they were spending when making decisions but spend money when necessary.

    Cons

Have to move for promotions usually which can be difficult on families however they offer a lot of consideration around this at each business unit.

    Advice to Management

Should have all lines of business aligned. Two lines of business are not up with current day process and procedures so some change management needs to take place.

    No opinion of CEO

    Pros

Lots of opportunity to move between divisions, if the desire is there. Career ladder was pretty well laid out and a good work/life balance was evident and respected.

    Cons

It seemed that in IT, if you did not want to end up in Corporate HQ, you could get 'stuck' at a divisional IT Manager level. Also, each division seemed like it's own company - one division could be cutting headcount to make quarterly numbers, but the guys across the street were popping champagne corks.

    Advice to Management

Making quarterly numbers at a division level dictated many important decisions, especially for smaller divisions.

I worked at Avery Dennison as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

Actual tax return preparation, great work environment, great co-workers, beautiful building. I could tell from day one that the company is very organized and structured. The staff was very friendly and they were willing to answer any questions I had.

    Cons

They are going to downsize soon. I also didn't receive too much training. It was more like being thrown into the fire. It was a good way to learn, but if I have no idea what I am doing, it will take a long time for me to get something done.

    Advice to Management

A lot of people are concerned with the downsizing and impending move. Maybe address those concerns more?

I have been working at Avery Dennison full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Awesome people here; very easy to work with, good team work, low stress

    Cons

It's a large corporation. You see where all your works goes and why it matters, but at the same time it seems that the company does not know where it is going, or you don't know where you are moving.

    Advice to Management

Personal Reviews of status of projects, better idea where team members fit in.

Communication isn't always the best, but they are constantly striving to be better. This stems from a great CEO in Dean A. Scarborough!
