I have been working at Avery Dennison full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Tremendous growth opportunity, very smart, yet nice co workers (still waiting to come across a bad apple or be bit by a political mistake due to past IT industry experience, but have experienced only kind, respectful, business centric behavior). Very collaborative and ethical culture. AD balances customers/products, employees, shareholders and our broader community and environment very well and with great results... and focus ! After 25 years in IT industry, best place to work IMHO.

    Cons

As the company is moving toward IT industry, the salaries are not quite in line and vacation in U.S. not up to current standards. Given the upside as mentioned above, not regretting the trade off. More individuals with digital/IT mindset needed vs. material science experience.

    Advice to Management

Our new competitors in the digital world are more sophisticated around marketing/branding, ecosystem development, and digital/IT product development so we will need to be more aggressive to play in this space.

I have been working at Avery Dennison full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Best place I've worked at in 45 years. Great benefits, and programs available to all employees.

    Cons

Sometimes they cater to spoiled employees too much and thus affects people who do realize how lucky they have it here.

    Advice to Management

Stay consistent and don't give too much, not necessary to change what is working so well right now in my opinion.

There are always some people who don't share the same values and work ethic as you do and it's tough to navigate when they are critical players to your position.

    Advice to Management

I have been working at Avery Dennison full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

avery is a great paying job.. i have never worked for a company that in 3 years you could go from 30k to 55k.

    Cons

management will not listen, we adopted a policy of promoting from within, the problem being that the people they promote have a history of failures and unethical behavior.. avery recenently paid $60 million for a new operating system that is flawed. as an employee it is difficult for me to do my basic job bc of oracle.. we minimum standards that we have for our customers, but none for ourselves. we hire anyone even... ones we already know can not physically and mentally do the job. we take defective material and are expected to make it good with a wave of out putty knives. we have plant operating principles that we only follow when people from outside ft wayne are in building. employees hide injuries bc of fear of punishment. we document less than half of our black flags. we take off loads from other sites knowing full we cannot meet the deadline
