    Pros

Awesome products....exactly..nothing else matters....yes..it does matter..if the management is smart enough and cuts down on redundant jobs

    Cons

Disillusioned management and they will get drowned with innovative companies that embrace open sourining...IT.HR/Staffing/Recruiting are worthless...it is just an expense...HR is of no value.to most organization they are just piling one...the ceo must be dumb not to recognize

    Pros

The pay was good and there was a chance for cross-training.

    Cons

The rules or standard operating procedures (SOP) was not handled consistently.

    Advice to Management

Management needs to stick to the SOP or not at all.

    Pros

They are respected for making quality products and have, for years, focused on growth through new product innovation and geographic expansion.

    Cons

When times get tough, management's first instict is to reorganize, in other words, cut head count. In those situations, those of us still there were overwhelmed with the work left to be done. Political culture sometimes leads to management myopia.

I have been working at Avery Dennison full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Pretty great people, some sense of community, new products are interesting, good pay, opportunity to be creative in most assignments

    Cons

Most of the leadership fails to give equal treatment across the board or at least provide transparency into real opportunities they see in the future for their employees. Many leaders also also fails to not only acknowledge, but assist, when their employees are overwhelmed with workload or requests coming their way.

    Advice to Management

When employees are overly stressed, take the extra time to change their scope, or at least re-frame the timelines of their projects to make working there still enjoyable. Many employees start happy and leave relieved when their workload is taken off their shoulders.

    Pros

    Minimal supervision so no micromanagement

    Cons

Poor internal communication. There are so many subsidiaries, that the left arm doesn't know what the right arm is doing. Poor training. Company culture is very old school.

    Advice to Management

Get involved, don't just come in for your paycheck.

I have been working at Avery Dennison full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    Flexible at times, Christmas break

    Cons

Understaffed, thus more and more is being added to your plate without any addition to your pay. The salaries are lower than average market rate. The salary increases are minimal 3% a year. No opportunity to grow. You have to bend backwards 100 times to even get anywhere. However, some people get over promoted. So much politics involved. Very top heavy. If you are friends with the right person, you will fly the corporate latter to the top, if not, too bad you would be at the bottom.

    Advice to Management

Stop wasting money on executive expenses and travel. Hire more people so the current employees are not overworked. Give employees opportunities to grow within the company.

    Pros

Exposure to senior management, collaborative work environment within functions, high degree of responsibility given, newer building with natural lighting and larger cubicle work spaces, innovative and highly willing to try new projects

    Cons

Not well defined goals, located in far out suburb so no access to public transit, somewhat siloed work environment -- so much work took place within rigid seeming functions
