    I worked at Avid Technology for less than a year

    Pros

    Most internships programs DO NOT compensate their interns, AVID does. This was extremely helpful and allowed me to afford gas, food, and essentials. Also, the "large" size of the program (around 30 students) allows for ideas to be shared and contacts to be made.     None that I can think of, maybe just the commute from Salem, MA to Burlington, MA (30 min drive time was on avg. a 1-hour commute during rush hours) :-P

    Advice to Management

    Divide the field-trips up into smaller groups of interns, too many folks at one site was over-whelming!

    I worked at Avid Technology full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    The guys who have been there a long time are solid people who will for the most part help you out. Good pay and good opportunities for advancement. 2 weeks vacation, good benefits, and 7 sick days all kick in as soon as you're hired.

    Cons

    Training is poor. Sure the ACSR classes are interesting, but none of them prepare for your job like they should. A lot of good people have left recently or been downsized. Lots of politics and BS.

    Advice to Management

    Listen to your employees more, especially those on the ground level. You're losing tons of good people for no good reason. People who were once dedicated and loved coming to work. Reward the hard work they do, don't just provide false promises.

    Pros

    There are a few dedicated employees left who care about Avid products and put customers first.

    Cons

    Since 2008, Avid has been on a steady decline and have lost their way in a marketplace where they were once dominant. Attrition has been high every year since then (cost cutting through many layoffs) and the company has let go many entertainment industry experts who knew the market needs and how to make a good product.     If you have a clear vision they will assist in getting you there Talented people willing to help out others (when they have the time) Powerful products that are fun to work with/on

    Constant change of management Lack of positive culture, fun Not clear on important issues around company future

    Keep engaging those on the frontlines to see where they are and where they want to go

    I have been working at Avid Technology full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    There's nothing bad that you can say about this company. The people are wonderful, the place is nice and the workplace is near to where i live. The workload is just right, no pressure intended. I'm hoping for more years in this company.
