I have been working at Avid Technology full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

For the people that are foolish enough to believe that Avid is on the up-up-up, then good for them, they're still newbie or 'blind' enough to buy the senior management story.

    Cons

For the rest of us, the concept that senior management are 'encouraging' staff to leave positive reviews right here on GlassDoor. I can't vouch for the 'rewards' offered to staff leaving "positive" reviews, however, if you see a short, glowing, 5-star review, bear in mind that it's highly unlikely to be the truth.

    Advice to Management

Stop trying to manipulate the reviews/ratings on an independent 3rd party site; read what the real reviews say and take heed. Pah, who am I kidding... you don't care about anything other than cashing in your shares...

I have been working at Avid Technology full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Currently, many awesome people work here. Pay can be good. Lots of opportunity if you have the right role. Could be a great place to work, but seriously not until restructuring is complete, which is scheduled for some time in 2017.

    Cons

Most of the many awesome people who work here, may have their jobs moved to Boca or Manilla and be offered the opportunity to train their replacements. Senior management can be challenging to deal with. Borrowed $100 million so they can complete "restructuring" and keep paying the top people's possibly excessively high salaries. Some of the benefits are embarrassingly bad,...

    Advice to Management

I wouldn't be surprised if you're next on the restructuring list folks.

I have been working at Avid Technology

    Pros

Good people Sexy product and industry

    Cons

3% company 401(k) match Bonuses paid out in April 2016 at 65% Even though we sold the most products in a decade. Why? Senior management set the goal in outer space to they could pay people next to nothing. I have never received less than 85% bonus during flat years from other companies. Expect mass exodus but maybe that is the intent.

    Advice to Management

Louis you make more than 7 million a year. People who rely on bonuses to pay bills and put their kids through college. 65% bonuses after all the hard work... You slapped us in the face and pocketed that money. I am sure you make a percentage of what bonus money you can save Avid from having to pay.

I worked at Avid Technology full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

My direct manager was great. Got to visit some interesting customers and work on some cool products.

    Cons

Senior management has no clue what they are doing to the point that we have been delisted and lost all our value. Was a public company yet stopped releasing financial earnings, hence the delisting. Executives want to run the company like a bank with no experience with the market Avid is in. Executives do not like any criticism of the plan and do not want to offer any specifics...

    Advice to Management

Release some earnings so Avid can get back some of the reputation. At least have feature parity with the competition so we stop losing market share on all fronts.

      Pros

Talented and hard working employees Great products Great and interesting customers Good salary

      Cons

Senior management is there to make their $ and really don't seem to care about the company, customers or employees. Management has no idea of what they are doing. They all seem to be in it for themselves. Layoffs every 6-9 months.

      Advice to Management

Sell the company to someone who cares about the industry, customers and employees. Stop taking large salaries and bonuses -- when the company is losing $.

      Pros

-Creative industry, for the most part -Exciting products, that which are left in the decreasing product line due to sell offs

      Cons

-Constant reduction in force/layoffs -Extremely frequent restructuring and high turnover (average employee experiences multiple managers within a year timeframe) -Employees are set up to fail as they are constantly faced with appeasing their new manager(s) in a reactive fashion and conforming to their way of doing things -New Senior Management staff members who come and go...

      Advice to Management

Clean this mess up before it's too late for the limited number of industry-savvy, talented staff in place who are all jumping ship. BOD - start at the top with your crony Gary's dismissal and all of his first lieutenants from there. Then there may be some hope and something left to salvage.

I have been working at Avid Technology

      Pros

Avid is generally a great place to work with many challenges facing its employees. It has some great products and is in a challenging industry. Product lines span from leading video editing products such as Media Composer to leading audio production products such as Protools.

      Cons

Company is going through a plethora of changes and is losing some great people. Change is good but right now the company has been turned upside down and most of the senior management team have no industry experience. This may work to transform some of the operation issues in the company but will most likely impact the long term strategy for the company and threatens its postion...

      I worked at Avid Technology

      Pros

Interesting product lines make Avid appear to be a exciting place to work. Co-workers are friendly and knowledgeable people. Avid headquarters campus is nestled in a nice, verdant office park surrounded by trees and a small pond.

      Cons

Where to begin? Avid has been in a downward spiral for the past 4 or 5 years. Mid-level and Senior management always believed that the company was on the right track, despite massive evidence to the contrary. Nevertheless, ignorance towards competitors and a staggeringly slow ability to change the company's direction has dug Avid into a hole from which it may never get out of....

      Advice to Management

Your competition is hot on your heels and will soon pass you. Making money "by any means possible" is a rotten tactic and will undoubtedly cost many loyal employees their jobs. Hire smart, capable management and take a very close look at what's happening down in the trenches. Oh, and clean the joint up, willya?
