I have been working at Avila University part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Excellent University. Small school environment where instructors feel compelled toward student success.

    Cons

Not many negatives. Pay can be modest but if you are in it for the pay then you are teaching for the wrong reason.

    Advice to Management

None at this time. The university is very well managed.

I worked at Avila University full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Many friendly people, great students. Small community which has some pluses. Easy and free parking. Safe campus. Good cafeteria food!

    Cons

Cliquish staff; HR is horrible to deal w/; no employee support; poor staff communication; supervisors have been there awhile and get away w/ unethical actions regularly.

    Advice to Management

Follow the procedures you lay out.

I have been working at Avila University as an intern

    Pros

I mean, it's work study. It's really reasonable, they're flexible with hours, and just generally really great to work for. I'm a tutor, and I truly enjoy the work that I'm doing. I love the people I work with, they are really kind and understanding. I've never had any issues.

    Cons

I can't think of any. At least for my work study job, things are organized quite well. I have no complaints.

    Advice to Management

    Keep doing what you're doing.

I worked at Avila University full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Good working environment, flexible to a point, ability to work with students in and out of department.

    Cons

Very secretive and sneaky. Even if you think you are doing a good job and have had good reviews... they could blindside you with a lay off or termination. If you aren't all in with the mission or direction the University is moving you might find yourself on the outs.

    Advice to Management

Better communication is needed. Also, listen to employees and be proactive when more than one person tells you that there is a problem with a fellow employee, regardless of the hierarchy.

I worked at Avila University as an intern (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Excellent work experience and an amazing staff to help you learn. At the same time they give you plenty of room to grow. If I would have been offered a job after graduating I would, without a doubt take it. They prepare you for jobs outside of school and teach you how to successfully sell your talents.

    Cons

There were communication issues. There are times when phones calls have to be made to several people just to get a question answered. Some of the other departments would go through or send people to the wrong department for tickets to be ordered for shows.
