I have been working at Avis Budget Group part-time

    Pros

I choose to work for ABG, because they have a high customer oriented team. They make sure that their customers are very well taken care of, as well as their employees. You can ask any question you need as an employee, and you can guarantee you will get an answer that will help you advance at ABG. They want to see you move forward, never back.

    Cons

    Have not found any problems

    Pros

Great benefits. Management is easy to get along with. You get freedom to do your job.

    Cons

Compensation could be a lot better. 1 raise per/year in the summer for "Cost Of Living." Usually no more than $0.35. Not helpful when insurance usually goes up as well. Customer service also not that great. The only customers who really get treated with any kind of respect are the corporate accounts.

    Advice to Management

    Offer more competitive wages!

    Pros

My co-workers are one of the best reason to work at Avis Budget.

    Cons

No training or mentoring in the department I work for.

    Advice to Management

I believe that management or manager should take the reviews serious enough to be able to see the potentials of each employee.

I worked at Avis Budget Group full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Clear management structure for career progression. Opportunities to advance in a variety of fields, depending on your flexibility and willingness to change locations. Having a recent-model fleet car with maintenance/gas/cleaning included was a pretty fun and useful perk.

    Cons

Seniority system (maybe only at local branch) was a huge deterrent to new personnel, managers and employees alike. My branch did not give priority to high-achievers if they were new, often resulting in burnout. The resulting high turnover rates strained employees to cover and managers to coordinate.

    Advice to Management

Do not give new programs and initiatives to the newest managers. In my case, this caused the employees to think that the I was trying to change the system without having any perspective or experience. The employees learned to associate discomfort and frustration with me, and they quickly ran to their old managers, who would undermine me.

A better way to develop the organization is to encourage the more experienced manager to introduce new programs or procedural changes. The experienced managers have rapport with the employees, and the employees have a foundation of trust with them. Even if the changes make things uncomfortable for a time, the employees know that they are in the hands of a manager who cares about them.

Then, the current procedures can be given to the new manager, who will be able to use that experience to earn the trust of the older employees, before making changes.
