I worked at Avis Budget Group full-time

    Pros

    Good pay and decent benefits

    Cons

Upper Management too short term focused. No longer valuing people. All about cost cutting and hitting short term goals at any cost.

    Advice to Management

Old technology. Profits doled out to please a few shareholders instead of reinvesting in business which badly needs investments to survive industry wide changes

    Cons

Virtually no support from the company itself. Poorly ran strategically.

    Pros

Overall the people are great however they are losing talent fast and the culture that made it a great place to work.

    Cons

Right now its all about cost cuts, unfortunately they can't get that done correctly. New lay-offs every week versus doing one mass one

    Advice to Management

Cut big, cut once then move forward. You need to grow revenue

I worked at Avis Budget Group full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Cant really think of any.

    Cons

Avis/Budget ALWAYS takes the customer's side. They demand high sales and have strict rules in place that almost set you up for an argument with the customer. Of course, I dont blame the customer, who will get mad at the policy and take it out on you, the employee. When the 1800 customer service gets wind, you as the employee will get in trouble for backing avis and budget policies.

    Advice to Management

If you demand stellar sales and customer service, pay better than minimum wage. There is a reason turn over is so high here. Invest in your employees.

    Cons

    No real support for managers
    Understaffed
    Fleet always an issue
Managers expected to be available 24/7 even on days off/ holidays

    Pros

As a manager, you get a new car with gas, insurance and all maintenance included. The people you work with can be great and it's a close-knit environment. You always get 2 days off a week.

    Cons

Working hours are ridiculous. The expected minimum for a manager is 10hrs per day, but it's usually more than that. You will work every single holiday and weekend as well. If there's a snow storm, you're going to send your employees home, but you will be at the store, even if you have little to no reservations. You do not get competitive pay and if you want to advance, be ready to move across the country.

    Advice to Management

You can't have any advice for the management when the management values its stock prices more than it values its customers and employees. ABG markets itself as a caring company and it used to be, a decade ago. Today, it only cares about price per share. Customers are treated like crap and managers only exist to be beaten by customers, who are treated like crap by the corporation.
