I worked at Avis Budget Group full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Decent starting salary, nice location.

    Cons

NO WORK/LIFE BALANCE! Work 10-12 hrs/day without overtime. Terrible schedule. Managers use fear tactics to get results. High turnover. Understaffed. Stop bleeding every ounce of productivity from the remaining people that are left: actually hire the staff required.

    Advice to Management

Pay people for the work they put in. Make management actually appealing, not the ones constantly getting the worst of everything.

I have been working at Avis Budget Group full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

I am happy to join the Avis Budget team to have the opportunity to enjoy renting to customers and to make additional revenue for my family as an R.S.A for PDX is awesome. After 5 years with National rental car I feel so much more comfortable as an Avis Budget employee.

    Cons

The comission structure for sales workers should be an overall percentage of their total sales they bring in. Rather then the current structure where each item sold has percentage goals.

    Advice to Management

Changing the structure to be more fair would benefit the company an the employees thus reducing the high turn over

I worked at Avis Budget Group full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

The Work life balance. Tuition reimbursement program. Flex hours. The people can be friendly. There is a Gym on site.

    Cons

Little room for true advancement, good employees are taken for granted, pay is lower than market, morale is super low, layoffs every year. Very male dominated. Old boys club.

    Advice to Management

People across the company are unhappy. Spend time to identify why people are so unhappy and then take the necessary steps to change the systemic culture problems.

I worked at Avis Budget Group full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Managers get access to rental cars with no charge.

    Cons

    10-11+ Work Hours Every Day
Poor office conditions (very cold, very damp, very dim) The company does not offer any office perks like access to coffee or water.
Management is very rude to staff ( I worked as a manager) the company does not discourage poor management behavior so you have regional and air port managers making up the rules as they go. No policy and no transparency. Compensation is ridiculously low.

    Advice to Management

Management should be transparent and more informative about the role in the interview process. I know for a fact they were very uninformative about the job duties in the interview process. Managers should not be asked to work 10+ hours per shift with no prior notice of schedule chance. Management should follow written company policy. Compensation is extremely low.

I worked at Avis Budget Group full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great training and benefits such as use of a car and gas. Nice people to work with.

    Cons

Upper management tends to not have their eye on the ball when it comes to reservations for luxury or specialty vehicles. You can count on the system being open for car classes you don't have and will not receive. Little to no security from irrate and sometimes dangerous customers. Staff needs to be cleaned up. They refuse to fire people for constant call outs and tardiness and claim that there is a hiring freeze, (there isn't). They expect miracles from managers but pay them a very low base. Some stores the counter staff make more than the managers.

    Advice to Management

Make a better effort to coordinate with fleet ahead of time so trhings can run more smoothly. Managers should be paid overtime and stores need to be better staffed.
