I have been working at Avis Budget Group (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The industry is not complex so the business is easy to understand. Leadership is always in the building and visible.

    Cons

Company is old school and doesn't show signs of changing business model even with new competitors.

    Advice to Management

Find a way to balance the asks of the old school operators with the changing travel environment.

    Pros

    Company car and free gas

    Cons

To advance you must; 1. Have everyone above you absolutely adore you personally. (Not professionally) 2. Do not show anybody below you any sense of admiration for anything. 3. Do not, I repeat, do not, by any means dare to think out side the box and voice your ideas. To upper management this is a bad thing. You must conform to the "Avis Budget way" 4. Never expect any recognition for any accomplishment you or your team achieve. You must only promote yourself and hope that by doing so you make somebody like you.

    Advice to Management

    Think outside the box!

I have been working at Avis Budget Group full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

    - Good benefits
    - family-like environment

    Cons

    - not likely to appreciate/value leaders who embrace change
    - unprofessional business environment when it comes to dealing with disciplinary issues
    - lacking in continuing education; especially with respect to management

    Advice to Management

With regards to the corporate aspect of the company, there are some people in management that have a static mentality as the company and rental car field changes around them. If the company truly values foward thinking, such employees should be pushed to change their thinking or perhaps pushed out to make room for those who embrace and face change head-on.

    Pros

Alot of room for internal growth for management. If you're wiling to work, the company will take care of yu.

    Cons

New CEO, alot of changes to the company culture and company motives. Not as much focused on the employees.

    Advice to Management

Focus on your employees. Push upper managerment to listen to the employees who are the heartbeat of the company.

I worked at Avis Budget Group as an intern

    Pros

Wonderful experience, probably due to having a really caring boss; was able to do try different things at all levels, diverse group of employees.

    Cons

It's an older company so a lot of the technology is still quite slow and hasn't quite advanced; no clear precedent for some internship positions leave some interns scratching their heads for the first few weeks (or whole duration).

    Advice to Management

Keep it up. Really enjoyed the internship projects and talks that we were given, maybe update your computers if possible.
