      Negative Outlook
      No opinion of CEO

I worked at Aviva full-time for more than 3 years

      Pros

Seem to be on the right trajectory for the moment, yet with new CEO that could change anytime. Ownership and involvement in broad, regional, global and cross-functional initiatives. Flexible work arrangements with improvement in benefits and upward mobility.

      Cons

Seemingly endless change management -- politics and nepotism are relatively high. Lagging competition in many measures. Historically worrisome diversity and inclusion commitment... some changes happening in the positive direction, yet momentum is slow.

      Advice to Management

Streamline insurance business further. 1,800 staff reduction doesn't seem like enough - 10% seems more appropriate. Reallocate resources to asset management - accelerate creation of shared services functions across business lines (operations, finance, IT, etc.) while maintaining specialization of distribution and asset management functions. Hold centralized functions to committed deadlines -- too many "bits and bobs"...

I worked at Aviva full-time for more than a year

        Pros

Innovative work environment, good employee engagement practices, competitive wages

        Cons

Financial services industry is not terribly compassionate -- Aviva selected one family each year to whom to extend corporate compassion, but largely see people as accounts

        Advice to Management

Stay focused on producing financial results

I worked at Aviva full-time for more than 5 years

        Pros

A great company to work for. My work was appreciated by upper management and my co-workers were very great people to work with.

        Cons

Usual politics but the benefits and perks outweigh these.

I worked at Aviva full-time for more than 8 years

        Pros

Autonomy. Ability to work with various technologies. Education and development opportunities widely available. Good atmosphere with co-workers. Fair severance.

        Cons

Like anywhere there are tough times and emergencies. Just do your best to manage through them. Like anywhere, directives can come from the top that adversely impact you regardless of personal performance.

        Advice to Management

Obviously the merger was a big change. In retrospect, it does not look like it was a wise decision by senior management. However, that probably should have been seen on the front end.
