I have been working at Avon Products part-time

    Pros

Great nonstop training, very supportive staff, encouraging atmosphere , you are never put down or rejected from any position, around the clock support. Sales tools are available at good pricing and it is an investment. Hard work and perfect for that strong willed and indpendent worker who loves a challenge, Supportive of women, men's, and family rights and values. Great company to work for and you can work from the comfort of your own home. I suggest only really social people do this kind of work because you have to be a people person and creative to be good at it. You also have to have a strong drive as well and don't give up easy.

    Cons

Not a get rich quick scheme so if thats what you are looking for this isn't for you. It is hard work, you have to invest, it is time comsuming.

    Advice to Management

Base pay so that people don't get discouraged because you end up investing a lot of money into it with in some area's little results. So I think a base pay like min wage should be given and to make achieving Unit leader a little more realistic because people come and go from a job like this. If you are a Leader and some of your staff no matter what you do leaves. You never end up reaching Unit leader and getting those leads that you have worked your butt off for. I think the work you put in should be reflected .

    Pros

I was able to see what new items were coming up. As long as my orders were $50 or more, I would get a little profit.

    Cons

Avon changed their profit margins. You now need to have $50 in orders to be able to get any profit. Profits are used to buy brochures and outlets. Avon also allows too many Reps in each town...there should be a limit.

    Advice to Management

Limit the number of Reps per town or city. Allow Reps to get profits on any sales amount.

I have been working at Avon Products (More than 10 years)

    Pros

I've been a rep for the past 14 years. It was great extra money as I raised my kids but it took effort to get to my level. Lots of networking and distribution of catalogs.

Tons of flexibility in how you want to grow your business. No parties, unless you want to. No initial investment in bulk products. Great personal discounts on demos and other products. Definitely a great option for stay at home moms with lots of friends or people who work in environments with lots of women - schools, hospitals, etc.

    Cons

The prices have gone up tremendously for catalogs, shipping and various fees. You have to sell at least $425 every two weeks in order to earn 40% and many items are so restricted to 20% earnings because they're made in China. Avon guarantees all products which is great for the customer, but reps end up eating the return shipping costs which add up fast. Unless you're selling $1000/month or more, it's not worth the effort after factoring in these extra costs/fees.

    Advice to Management

Go back to free return shipping. Cut the costs of the catalogs and you might retain some of your blossoming sales stars.
