I have been working at Avon Products full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Decent pay (not great not awful), great coworkers in R&D, you learn a lot in a short period of time. Good benefits. Overall R&D is a pretty good place to work.

    Cons

Volatile working place. Lay offs are roughly annual and R&D is already short staffed so we are overworked, some people doing multiple peoples' worth of work. Suffern is also a small village so there is not much to do outside of work for fun.

    Advice to Management

Increase transparency from senior management to lower associates.
It's impossible to retain talent if associates are overworked and underpaid.

    Pros

Great atmosphere, especially in a usually "catty" atmosphere. Beautiful building, scenic town. lots of freebies. Good pay

    Cons

Morale can be low in times of transitions. Suburban area not the best for young adults

I have been working at Avon Products full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

People are nice and you get a lot of experience in a short amount of time. Culture is fairly understanding of a work life balance.

    Cons

The high turn over and constant restructuring makes for a fairly uncertain environment. There is a undercurrent of passive aggressiveness in the culture which is a bit distressing.

    Advice to Management

A sense of clear direction or structure would be appreciated. The ability for different functions within the organization to work together instead of undermining each other's work would be helpful.

I worked at Avon Products as a contractor (Less than a year)

    Pros

Nice people who would love to help.

    Cons

Constant abusive from upper management in respect to Temporary employees. Following orders and not ever questioned them. Working tight place with another temp, both using balance at the same time etc. Asking to move to empty space available next to them( nobody won't be occupied long time), they denied our petition with an irrational excuse. Most of time the manager was behind our back when we was working... Horrible place to work!!!. I left in 2 weeks, for me it was 10 years. According to my friend, the other temp stayed for not so long...
Past temps left with same issue .

    Advice to Management

Temps are human beings and treating accordingly. On the phone interview, Nobody mentioned me of the mentally abuse.

    Pros

Great Culture, recognition for good work, good salary

    Cons

There was some favoritism which discouraged other employees who were talented

    Advice to Management

Look at enthusiasm of employees not education

I worked at Avon Products full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The culture at Avon R&D is one that really inspires personal and professional growth.
You are coupled with a mentor that will help you to overcome challenges and navigate the large corporate environment.
all management fosters a true R&D environment of trying and learning. Failure is not punished and it is expected that when trying to do something new and out of the box you are not going to be successful 100% of the time.

    Cons

The people here can sometimes take themselves too seriously. We were making makeup not pacemakers.
Marketing and Product Development have a large turnover and are unorganized resulting in late turn overs and rush sloppy projects

    Pros

people are very hard working and help eachother all the time. Just like anyother companies, there are very few who slacks. Most of the manager and up seems like very busy and getting the stuff one. Most of the people work as a team. A lot of people willing to help you out when you are swamped with work. Upper management like to get people to meet other department, so people can make a move when the time is right.

    Cons

Seems like everyone is overloaded. Needs to get the old crowd out and get some young faces in.

    Advice to Management

Upper management needs to come and stop by the departments and see what people are doing everyday.
