I worked at Avon Products full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Nice people to work with. Flexible schedule as you move up the hierarchy. Constantly challenging and gratifying work.

    Cons

Some difficult senior management. Smart executives... yes. Not smart enough to listen to others with more experience in their specific fields of expertise... absolutely yes... in every way... yes.

    Advice to Management

Create unity at the senior executive level. Getting direction from the 3 different factions creates mistrust and confusion. Focus on the good of your staff. Ignore their commitment to Avon and teh representatives at your own peril.

    Cons

Morale can be low in times of transitions. Suburban area not the best for young adults

I worked at Avon Products full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Offers employment. The building is heated during the winter. There is running water in the building.

    Cons

This is not a company that you should apply to. If you currently work here, you are either riding it out or actively looking for new job. Many of the department's are unhappy working with current management. Speaking from experience, the Sourcing department is managed by individuals who lack the basic sourcing skills to affect positive change. They also lack basic people skills which will cause many more to quit, whether they have a job lined up or not.

    Advice to Management

Is someone planning on speaking with the sourcing team to ask why they are all unhappy? If you did you would be shocked at what what they tell you about the management capabilities of Tricia and Jonathan. The CEO send emails that say we are not meeting our financial objectives or showing any signs of improvement, but he is still very optimistic. Really? About what, specifically? How about providing some facts behind your optimism.

I worked at Avon Products as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great environment with highly intelligent members of each team, continuously working to improve quality and cut costs, allows interns to work with suppliers and handle individual projects, brought on site visits to suppliers to learn how everything we work on gets made.

    Cons

Packaging engineering seems a tad boring, periods of mundane tasks, low pay compared to other co-op program companies, meetings between departments generally inefficient, detachment and miscommunication between different regions and teams.

    Advice to Management

Do more related to quality of products if possible. Spend more if quality can improve because most of the work is cost saving and Avon products are generally seen as cheap and low quality.
