I have been working at Avon Products full-time

    Pros

Nice coworkers, family friendly, reasonable work hours (unless you have a particularly unorganized boss).

    Cons

Company has become very top-heavy with senior leaders who are quick to judge others, are competing with each other, and create twice the workload. There are two people running "marketing" with separate agendas, product development head with no beauty background, and now an interest in wellness, which has become a mess. We feel like agendas and priorities change hourly.

    Advice to Management

Cerberus needs to know how badly their investment is being managed. Smart people are leaving or being pushed out, in place of Senior managements' friends and more top-heavy departments. Meanwhile, the Sales team never seems to be held accountable for the failing numbers. The CEO, Scott, needs to reevaluate where the real problems are.

    Pros

The environment is very family-oriented and there are a lot of opportunity for growth.

    Cons

The message from upper management gets blurred when it comes to the downlines. There is resistance to change from the seasoned ones.

    Advice to Management

Be decisive and ensure that your key local leaders maintain the standards of ethics and compliance. Put your Associates first.

    Pros

Coworkers are all great. Paychecks always show up.

    Cons

New private ownership is purely focused on the bottom dollar. Its no longer a company, just another one of their investments to make THEM a quick buck.

    Advice to Management

Without your hourly workforce you have nothing. All those executives that make the big bucks play much less of a role than your hourly labor force.

I worked at Avon Products full-time

    Pros

    - Some strong new executives, which led to some of the weaker employees leaving
    - Still a large company with resources
    - Some new ideas being generated
    - Great products

    Cons

    - Silos and politics are extreme; executives will talk about each other behind their backs. They will try to have projects to take over other areas, and many people get in the middle of this. Leads to a lot of unproductive time.
    - Some weak executives remained...they were the ones who led Avon to the declines of today, and drive the political culture within. They are reactive, not proactive, and don't know the first thing about making a great strategy and then sticking to it. Stains the culture coming from the top. The company won't change with them around
    - Extreme politics in Marketing with 2 heads of Marketing, which doesn't make any sense
    - Not a modern company, won't invest in technology
    - Bringing in the same consumer expertise that didn't help in the past
    - Overall, don't think they know what they're doing
    - No growth, and probably won't be able to fix it

    Advice to Management

Have a more clear strategy, feels like you don't know what you're doing. Think carefully about the executives still there, are they the cause or solution to the problems? Invest more.

    Pros

Great People, exciting and constantly moving, changing. There are a lot of training and recognition events. Received personal training for my position

    Cons

Can be a little overwhelming at times. Would have been easier if I had a little more background knowledge of the business aspect. This is a personal con however, no fault of theirs.

    Pros

Set your own hours, work as much or as little as you want, reward options, be your own boss, work with friends

    Cons

More money takes lots of effort. Most likely you will break even or end up spending more than you make
