People-focused small biz goes against the grain

    Pros

Home Care involves a lot of logistics and details, but the staff is incredibly proactive. Even in severe weather, there's always a sense of "all hands on deck." They don't do "next person in" like a lot of companies in this industry. There's a big emphasis on matching clients with not only the right caregiver, but the right backup caregivers whenever the original is unable to make a shift. I think that's why they have one of the best turnover ratios in the industry: They go out of their way to be personal and that includes the clients, the staff, and most importantly, the caregiver. The company is small, but quickly growing through awards, recognition, and reputation. Growth is slow, but that's mainly due to the refusal to cut corners in pay (one of the highest starting rates for home care companies in the state) or care.

    Cons

The management is demanding and there's a definitely certain personality traits they value higher than others. This is not a "Sit back and waste time" kind of a job. The recruiters, schedulers, and admin staff work very hard and they need to not only know their role down pat, but how other roles function as well (since it's a small team) in case of absences and/or emergencies. You need to know your stuff and buy-in, or don't bother. Tim and Gina, the owners, will know immediately in both cases and will bring it up. The plus side of that is hard work gets recognized and generously rewarded. Bonuses, PTO, good health insurance, healthy snacks in the office, a nice coffee maker and a Vitamix. The office is an old dentist's office, so it's kinda cramped, but they're looking to expand their space in the next year.

Great place to work and feel appreciated!

    Pros

I genuinely love working here! There is a lot to be said for going to work for a company that truly appreciates what you do for them. They don't just 'say it' with words, but they express it by their actions. Aware Senior Care is a company that puts their employees first, and it shows by the heartfelt expressions of those that work here. I have worked in various jobs before, but this is the first job I've had where I have felt true appreciation from the company. Love it!

    Cons

No downsides about working with Aware Senior Care. Any job can have its stresses, however, I don't have anything negative to say about the company.
