I have been working at Axiom Global full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Deep-rooted company culture that values difference and challenges you to think big. An innovative model and a very strong senior leadership team who make you feel like you're playing a key role in changing an industry. Generally very supportive colleagues and a competitive package. Opportunities for travel are good although depend on function; sense of global community is strong.

    Cons

Rapid expansion means occasional fire drills and duplication of efforts - but this is improving.

    Advice to Management

Keep the culture intact as the company grows!

    Pros

Unparalleled oppertunity to grow & develop - Axiom doesn't limit you based on tenure or title
Flexibility - able to work remotely or from an office
    High Growth - constantly expanding

    Cons

No work life balance - 80+ hour weeks are commonplace
    Highly political
    Culture fading quickly
Indecisive leadership at the executive level

    Advice to Management

Invest in the culture while you still can - fund office events/outings, encourage work/life balance & focus on employee experience...

I have been working at Axiom Global full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Top notch clients and work. Great hours and work-life balance. Fair and honest reviews. Great compensation for the hours and work. High quality of work.

    Cons

Time in between assignments can be worrisome. The longest time I have experienced is one month. Compensation will not be as much as a large law firm.

I have been working at Axiom Global full-time

    Pros

Hire smart, well rounded people. Interesting business model. Great locations.

    Cons

-deceive smart people into taking stupid and mundane roles.
-work life balance is not what they claim.
-do not invest in their people. discourage you from bettering yourself ie all extra-curriculars have to be in the scope of your role.
-there is a LOT of nepotism. It really helps to know someone here, so be sure to get a reference if thats your thing.
-unwelcoming towards junior people. your every move will be criticized.
    -incompetent managers keep getting promoted.
-all around deceptive culture. pretend to be relaxed but are the opposite, particularly for junior folks.

    Advice to Management

stop pretending to be something you're not. recognize the fact that the culture isnt what you think it is -- there is an established hierarchy that silences good ideas from junior people. please take feedback seriously and learn to communicate across functions.

    Pros

There are good opportunities presented due to Axiom being an industry leader in this space. For the most part many of the folks you meet at Axiom are good and the benefits are better than their competitors.

    Cons

Negotiating salary valuations are not easy conversations. Axiom tries to get you to buy-in to the salary concept, but in reality your salary is based on a hourly rate that you work a minimum number of hours per week. Its important to look at your valuation from the hourly perspective, and determine if you agree with Axiom's valuation.

    Advice to Management

Develop roadmaps for developing junior attorneys. Certain clients will have cyclical openings. Projects are not entirely predictable, but provide good ground level experience building blocks. Stay in tune to what the attorneys want to accomplish and then work out skeleton roadmap to provide a route to reach their goals. You should have a higher retention rate.

    Pros

In the proliferation of outfits that place attorneys on long-term assignments with in-house positions, Axiom stands tall. I have nothing but good things to say about the professionalism of their organization, the variety of the quality assignments I had with them, their support for attorneys and just the absolutely great nature of the Axiom staff.

This type of legal practice is not for everyone, but if you are looking for a way to take greater control over your work and can handle potential gaps between assignments then Axiom is well worth your consideration. After all where could I roll off of one engagement, take a month off to travel and upon return be placed into another cool gig? Axiom lives up to its well deserved quality reputation!

    Cons

Placement on an assignment may not be automatic - depends on what is available and how your skills match.

    Pros

Very flexible schedule - attorneys are free to accept or turn down assignments as they see fit. Attorneys can choose to work remotely or on-site.
Great benefits - EXCELLENT for a contract attorney position - full health, dental, 401(k) etc comparable to an in-house position with a top company. CLEs and bar dues are provided. If an attorney is between engagements, Axiom will carry health care costs for a period if an attorney is between engagements after 3 months of employment.
Career development - Axiom tries to match attorney career goals with assignments. Lots of resources to develop new areas of expertise.
Quality of assignments - this isn't a doc review position. Attorneys work as an extension of in-house legal departments with substantive assignments.
    Part-time engagement is available.

    Cons

Work seems to be relatively steady, but a full-time engagement is not guaranteed. Salary is based on full time engagement of 50 hours, but 30-40 seems to be more the norm. My personal experience has been that Axiom works diligently to provide a steady stream of assignments, but some attorneys have had gaps of a month or two between assignments. I enjoy having some downtime to pursue alternate engagements, but for some it may prove problematic.

    Pros

Great clients, long term engagements (1 year+) with Fortune 500 companies working as insourced, in-house attorney; flexible, remote working arrangements; fantastic culture (spontaneous gifts, friendly, personable, honest, fun, easy-going); Autonomous working environment with sophisticated matters; competitive salary and benefits. I've never enjoyed practicing law more in my 13+ years as an attorney. Joining Axiom was the best career decision I've ever made. A+++

    Cons

None really; but it would be nice to have a profit-sharing/equity option in Axiom Global (that's how much I believe in this company)!

    Advice to Management

Keep up the great work. Houston office is awesome. Support from Chicago and MN offices is wonderful too.

I have been working at Axiom Global full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

I joined Axiom to have the flexibility of remote work and flexible hours. The extent to which either of those goals is accomplished depends on the companies with which you are engaged. Some allow flexible hours/remote work, some want body in a seat during business hours. You can choose what kind of work arrangement you will accept and Axiom is great at looking for those kinds of engagements for you. The work assignments have been really interesting and a good mix of sophisticated transactions and every day operational needs.

    Cons

The trade off is mediocre compensation without a bonus structure and PTO that does not account for experience level or longevity with Axiom. The quoted salary does not get met unless you are engaged for 50 hours per week. There is relatively no opportunity to interact with other attorneys from Axiom, which may not matter if you are a very senior attorney. Junior attorneys who are looking for training on the job will only find it if their engagement has training programs and will allow the Axiom attorney to participate. Axiom does offer a wide breadth of CLE through Lexis and PLI, but no real supervising attorneys who can teach and train junior lawyers.

    Advice to Management

Recognize senior attorneys and reward them with better compensation and PTO that more closely approximates what in-house or law firm attorneys get.

I have been working at Axiom Global part-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

A virtual law firm that truly cares about its attorneys. The culture is refreshingly relaxed, honest and upbeat. My placements have been excellent, in top companies in Silicon Valley and LA of long durations (3 months to 1 year +). They negotiate good billing and expense reimbursement terms for you and provide you any support you need with the client. They sincerely want you to be happy while on project. I am satisfied with my billing rate because I am able to block bill a more than 40 hour week (usually 50), so it all works out. And they throw great parties!

    Cons

I really don't have any cons. The Axiom folks make this a wonderful experience. I have recommended several friends to sign up who have all been pleased.

    Advice to Management

    Onward and thank you.
