    No opinion of CEO

I worked at Axon Communications full-time

    Pros

Great experience, crash course in pharma. Smaller agency-like atmosphere, without the agency hassle of time tagging. Clients are like any other-- but always every changing due to the CEO having his hand in EVERY client relationship, sometimes to its own detriment. Get the title, put it on your resume, and scoot. Pay was decent for outside of Boston location.

    Cons

CEO micromanages every client experience. Which doesn't leave you much room to make decisions on your own. Also drags his feet on client needs and puts you as the resident tap dancer to the client. Brush up on your ole soft shoe-- you're going to need it. Plus, the HR person is the CEO's wife-- talk about awkward if you ever have an issue to report. The company needs to evolve into 2017-2018 and needs more ideas....

    Advice to Management

Stop micromanaging and pushing employees away. You have maybe a handful of people who have been there since the company's inception... all the rest know there's nowhere to climb in the company and no opportunity. Stop selling a pipe dream about career opportunities and be honest. The CEO needs to be less involved in day to day- hire a whole business development team!

    I worked at Axon Communications

    Pros

This will be a good experience for those who are younger, or recent college grads, because it will expose you to some of the challenges that can be encountered within a smaller corporate-like agency environment.

    Cons

There is almost no place for advancement within the company. If you have other opportunities elsewhere, you should carefully consider those before accepting an offer to work for Axon Communications.

    Advice to Management

Honesty…There just isn’t much there. Almost every aspect of business ethic is skewed out of proportion because it thought by management that to be truthful, just, and fair to your clients and employees would cost the company more money and make less profit.

I worked at Axon Communications full-time

    Pros

Employees are hardworking, dedicated and genuinely care about what they do. Nice office park. Small company doing well financially.

    Cons

Very high turnover (6 months to 2 years.) Low morale. Company does not always hire to replace former employees, forcing the remaining staff members to perform well-beyond their compensated job duties. Salary jobs, no overtime or compensated time off for working overtime. No real cleaning crew, employees do it.

    Advice to Management

Lead by example. Roll up your sleeves with your team. Focus on the positives, not the negatives. Trust in the professionals you hired to do their job. Hire more professionals when needed. Show up and show you care. Contribute to 401k packages. Give better raises and promotions to those who deserve it. Pay current Boston-area wages. Spend money on equipment and items necessary for productivity. Treat employees...

I have been working at Axon Communications

    Pros

Fast paced Lots of varying responsibilities Encouraged to share ideas for improvement Lots of company functions/team building social events Friendly, personably management

    Cons

Upper management micro manages instead of improving process/workflow Owner is too involved in day-to-day process making people's jobs harder Too many cooks in the kitchen on most tasks creating stalemates -- things don't get done.

    Advice to Management

Delegate. Trust the experts you hired to perform the job. Sit back and let people do what they're good at. Stop micro managing. Learn to improve workflow and the process by which things are accomplished rather than having your finger ont he pulse of every single job.

I have been working at Axon Communications full-time

    Pros

Great company that is truly making a difference in the healthcare world Innovative programs Extremely creative environment where we can participate as much (or as little) as we want in the creative process Great work environment

    Cons

Can sometimes be extremely fast paced and deadline driven (but it is better to have more work than not enough!)

    Advice to Management

Keep hiring experienced, detail-oriented employees and get rid of the slackers/coasters (you know who they are).
