I have been working at Azusa Pacific University full-time for more than a year

    Pros

The community of people on campus is phenomenal! The people you work with, and the people that you work for are amazing people! The culture of the campus is like no other! It is an Evangelical Christian community, so the people are wonderful and really want to follow others in their journey with Christ. Each fac/staff member is required to be a Christian, but students are not. The training process can take up to three months, but for qualified people can be done pretty quickly.

    Cons

The pay is not very competitive with other universities.

I have been working at Azusa Pacific University part-time for more than a year

    Pros

I worked as a student worker and was really helped by the manager team both students and staff. I loved the environment and the people there.

    Cons

The meal waiver procedure for those who work a 5 hour shift is poorly executed and illogical. The wording on the form is misleading at best and really should be re-done.

I worked at Azusa Pacific University full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Great place to start and learn so you can move on to hire paying jobs. The academic sector of the University is pleasant, the professors and such who work there are really kind. The campus atmosphere and the students are really kind and there many activities on main campus, though this is not the case for the regional center. This University has many departments that are fabulous to work for and can advance your career, but this is almost entirely if you work on main campus and not at a regional center. They have great tuition reimbursement benefits. The pay varies, it is okay. However you will definitely earn more if you know someone with cache in the institution upon starting.

    Cons

The administration sector is filled with family members or long time friends, therefore to advance depends on not what you know but who you know. There is also a strong hierarchal structure. Administration does not care about the front lines personal, and very little about everyone else, for the most part. Almost everyone in middle and especially in upper management is connected to each other by family ties or longtime friendships developed when they themselves where students at the University, or also, some long time friend who they will protect at almost any cost. Thus, to go to Human Resources with an issue could actually back fire on you, since you may be alleging something against someone related to upper management or someone upper management wants to protect because of their close ties to the accused person (I saw this occur 5 times while there). In this institution there is very little sharing of information as they consider it a commodity for power and advancement. It is a well known fact that if you work there, you must keep your head down and do as you are told, or else they will find a way to let you go. The division between administration and the academics is also pretty strong, by far working on the academic side is much better and filled with nicer people.
