    Pros

For Dining Services the hours of operations are fantastic.

    Cons

Upper management uses fear as a motivational tool. Every conversation, meeting and or email would end in " and failure to do so will lead to further disciplinary action ". The entire company was in financial disarray was in a a financial crisis. Money was miss spent and now lay offs and out sourcing was the only option they chose. Sadly that a Christian College would sacrifice people for the numbers rather than the... numbers for the people , they have it backwards.

    Advice to Management

Learn to lead, there are many people in high levels of management but they are absolutely not leaders. We listen to them because they are in a position of authority and have authority over us, but we would not follow them. Leadership is not a position or a rank it is a choice.

    Pros

Simply put: quality people. Many faculty and staff stay here for decades indicating the excellent workplace culture of the university. APU is an enjoyable place to work and every day you know that you and your colleagues are invested in the work and the mission of the university.

    Cons

Bonuses and upward mobility will be limited at this university as it is tuition-driven.

I worked at Azusa Pacific University full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Tuition discount is all that remains.

    Cons

Health benefits cost $250 per paycheck for HMO for a family of 3. They slashed retirement contribution from 8% to 3% matching. HR does not advocate for employees. If you report abuse or mismanagement, nothing happens. Mismanagement of funds has put the university near default. They promote people into management who aren't performing well as a worker. The environment is toxic, unfriendly. No room for... advancement. No raises, and if there was, it was 2% or less. Huge gap between faculty and staff. Nursing and Education departments are the worse to work for.

    Advice to Management

The deans and chairs all need to be removed. They are toxic. They don't hire enough people, don't know what it takes to actually do the job, don't know how to budget or forecast, or properly enlarge programs. Everything is old and outdated. Staff is left to do 200% of the work with zero resources. All are burned out.

I have been working at Azusa Pacific University full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Collegial staff, warm engaging students, beautiful old campus

    Cons

Precarious financial condition, Downgraded bond rating, continued rounds of layoffs, no tenure, very high teaching loads for 27 units year plus service expectations, research expectations, no funding for research presentations and conferences, frozen retirement benefits (no contributions). No raises on low salaries for one of most expensive housing markets in the nation

    Advice to Management

Raise wages to market rates so professors can afford housing for their families, stabilize the tenuous financial situation, either offer tenure, or honor your commitments on five-year contracts
