I have been working at Azusa Pacific University full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Generous benefits and beautiful campus. Learning opportunities are ordered if you are looking for them. Definitely a place that is willing to take you in and show you the ropes.

    Cons

Politics (both internal and external) play into every decision. Executive leader aggressively tries to put everyone else down while lavishing his own team. Toxic leaders are rewarded/promoted, but never held responsible. Unhealthy communication and conflict abound as the norm. Everyone is too busy to actually care about organizational health.

    Advice to Management

Care about the health of your organization more than the production of your organization. Learn to keep people accountable and to be fair/unbiased when dealing with everyone. Stop putting up with toxic leaders! Don't cater and protect your friends.

    Negative Outlook

I worked at Azusa Pacific University full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Benefits, Lower level coworkers are good people.

    Cons

Lack of advancement opportunities outside of a team leader position that is always filled.
Job description does not match job duties assigned.
Formerly APOU. Formerly APU-UC. Soon to be formerly UC and some other trade tech school name.

    Advice to Management

Executive leadership: Stop being a sexist, good old boys, club. You have systematically driven out female leadership and replaced them with inept male leaders. Stop treating the company as if it IS a for profit company driven by end of the quarter profits. Your IHL programs are not competitive enough to drive your staff to mismanage lower staff to do job duties that belong to other departments. Director level leadership: Stand up for your employees. You are their leaders. Act like it. If your employees are not fulfilling their job duties- STOP pawning it off on other employees/departments to keep your image clean. It overburdens the good workers and keeps the crappy ones employed. Supervisors: stop repeating the trend of upoer management and lead by example. Stop being dictators and be leaders your employees want to stand with. Grow a back bone.
