I worked at B&G Foods full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The company is doing really well, growing and continuously acquiring new brands. There is a team spirit, everybody is working towards the same goal. Most people are nice and easy to work with. The brands are well known, some of the bigger ones being Ortega, Mrs. Dash, Cream of Wheat and PIrate's Booty.

    Cons

Not a lot of "fun" going on - the focus is getting your work done and going home. Management does not allow for a lot of independence, everything is closely managed. It looked like men advanced in the company and not very many women.

    Advice to Management

Build a more fun work environment to keep employees motivated and allow for more independence.

    I worked at B&G Foods full-time

    Pros

There are no pros except walking out the door!

    Cons

Long hours, overworked, 12 hour shifts, underpaid. Treated like robots. Run-down plant in the middle of nowhere. Lousy product line. Terrible out-of-touch management only concerned about numbers. Lost a lot of customers & business.

    Advice to Management

Shut the place down and cut your losses

I worked at B&G Foods full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Nice portfolio of strong brands and job security since B&G acquires brands without headcount.

    Cons

Sales dollars have quintupled with recent acquisitions but head count hasn't increased. Sales team that was already overburdened is overwhelmed and when concerns are articulated they are told to work smarter.

Response time from inside headquarters can extend several weeks resulting in lost sales and opportunities. Sales and marketing leadership is disrespectful and dismissive of field sales apprehensions.

    Advice to Management

Start listening to the people in the field or its going to cost you. And build a culture that stands for something other than the next acquisition.

Protect the spice business or it will vanish.

I worked at B&G Foods full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

    vacations, sick days, Holiday pay

    Cons

safety rules, almost none - your lied to - you could never make plans, because you wouldn't find out if you work Saturday until three fifteen 0n Friday. little by little they put more responsibil -ities on you until you are overwhelmed. After a couple of years of asking for help, you finally get help

    Advice to Management

attention to safety, forking product, running over pallets, running into each other, let slackers go, let people have a life, Management needs to pick up there heads, instead of walking with them down looking at the floor so they can say they didn't see anything!

I have been working at B&G Foods full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

B&G took over right at one year ago. In that time they have changed a lot for the better. There are still a significant amount that needs to get better. The Plant Manager and Production Manager are easy to work with and really care about the employees.

    Cons

No communication among managment, supervisors, and full time employees. This has been a problem since before B&G took over. Wrong people in the wrong places as far as some managment and supervisors.

    Advice to Management

Take a survery from the workers about their relationship and the way their supervisors lead and how they feel about HR.
