I have been working at B&G Foods full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Great group of people, I really, really like my coworkers. Good culture and the company is headed in an exciting direction. Healthy work environment, somewhat flexible scheduling allowed/accommodated when needed. Management and leadership are accessible and approachable.

    Cons

Salaries seem quite a bit lower than elsewhere. Internal promotional opportunities aren’t easy to come by. Annual salary increases are next to nothing - not remotely competitive.

I worked at B&G Foods full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Some very nice people and potential room to grow depending on which department you work with. The benefits are just ok but not all of them kick in right away such as the 401k that is only offered to staff who have been there over 6 months. The hours are nice with 8.30 to 5pm monday to thursday and get to leave 2.30pm on fridays

    Cons

The entire experience here is a luck of the draw. Each department is so different you might have a great experience in one team and get to take long lunches and leave at 5pm each day, or you might be miserable in another team getting exactly 30mins for lunch (not a second more) and have to work longer hours. Small family style management in certain department, HR looks the other way at a lot of violations and allows some management to get away with treating their staff poorly. Some departments pay very generously and others are extremely stingy and there is no rhyme or reason. A lot of manual work is done that could be automated, with a lot of hard copy paper trails that can easily be misplaced instead of electronic files. Old ERP system slows the process down

I have been working at B&G Foods full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Great benefits and work/family balance. HQ employees leave work at 2:30pm every Friday

    Cons

Won't invest in growing the business, budget cuts and no bonuses year after year. Sales continue to plummet while the CFO micro manages so much that nothing ever gets done.

I have been working at B&G Foods full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Compensation & Benefits - Above average compensation - If you stay long enough, offers a pension that vests after 5 years Culture & People - Good flexibility that is especially beneficial for parents - "Half day" Fridays until 2:30PM year round at the corporate HQ - Continuous office renovations to improve the working space - A handful of genuinely kind and intelligent people Learning & Development - Very few consequences for mistakes allows you to test and learn but also is a significant driving factor of the cons

    Cons

Compensation & Benefits - Cannot contribute to your 401K until after at least 6 months of employment - Below average 401K match - Bonus structure lacks transparency and is offered to fewer levels compared to other CPGs - Vacation policy is average and unused days do not roll over to the next calendar year Culture & People - Compared to other comparable CPGs, overall lacking in talent across most functions with only a few exceptions - Many employees exhibit a complete lack of accountability as there are very few consequences for mistakes or poor performance (there are NEVER any lay-offs so bad employees linger for far too long) - Generally a mindset of pointing out problems, but not offering solutions, let alone creative solutions - Several top performers have left because they were not enabled to thrive in their roles due to non-existent cross-functional support - In contrast to the few kind and helpful employees mentioned above, some of the longer tenured employees (a few from regulatory department are a prime example) show complete and utter disrespect to others, fueled by their complacency and security in their positions - The balance of work loads is all over the place - some talented employees are very overworked while others sit at their desks and watch Netflix throughout the day. . . - Constant changes in direction from leadership that is unevenly communicated across the organization causes consistent rework and confusion - Customer rather than consumer insight focused - Antiquated systems and processes (so much paper use for everything!) Learning & Development - No clear career paths, applicable to most functions, has been driving turnover - Some mid-level employees have been at the company for 10+ years with only 1-2 promotions over the entire period - Many things are still done in a B&G specific way, which means that more entry level employees are not learning the best practices or transferrable skills

    I worked at B&G Foods full-time

    Pros

Pension program in addition to 401k Company in growth mode, hiring vs laying off people

    Cons

70 plus hour workweek is the norm Sales and Marketing rift - incentives aren’t aligned Three out of ten years there was no bonus Management decisions create apathy downstream
