I worked at B&H Photo Video (More than 5 years)

    Pros

The expectations of the daily role is fairly steady, company does promote from within and tries to identify the best talent, decent job stability, extremely customer focused mindset, and offers competitive benefits and an open door policy to management.

    Cons

The environment is a conservative corporate environment with punch clocks for every employee.
For those who secretly dislike retail or working with customers this is the wrong job for you as customers have high expectations from B&H photographers.

B&H has very good benefits, with holidays off and paid time off. Overall salary is fair for the job title that you do.

I have been working at B&H Photo Video full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Great annual raises and large annual bonuses (like an extra paycheck). Small monthly bonuses based on individual performance ($25-100 per month). Weekly technical trainings make you an expert within months. Coworkers are very friendly and supportive, often meet up outside work and aren't rigid cliques. The company does a lot of big things right, and a lot of little things wrong. It's the best job I've had by age 30 and keeps me stuck here in NYC because of the pay and benefits!

    Cons

Micromanaging from the top down. Petty policies, in denial of favoritism, misguided priorities, accusations of discrimination.

    Advice to Management

Take better, genuine, care of your employees so they can take care of their customers. Break up rigid old ways of thinking and open the playing-field to new ways of thinking and growing the company. You've done a lot right, but things could be better if you'd let them.

    Advice to Management

Little less pressure for deadlines and better planning in advanced

    Pros

They are flexible to your needs. Very friendly atmosphere in all the corporate offices. Lots of holidays and time off too.

    Cons

A bit disorganized. The pay is a little less then average. A number of manager have very old school ideas on how to do their jobs. And their values sometimes get in the way of you trying to get your work done

    - B&H store discount
    - Benefits were fair
    - Pay is decent
    - Hours in the office were fair
    - Vacation days were great

    Cons

    - Management doesn't offer any direction. Things are always changing but there is no underlying vision. Often it seemed like decisions were made haphazardly and there were conflicting ideas.

I worked at B&H Photo Video as a contractor (Less than a year)

    Pros

High levels of technical competency; very warm culture due to the personally-based communities in which many employees live; speaking up for the right thing to do for biz or tech is not merely encouraged in theory but as a cultural normal level of human contact; awesome benefits; focus on meritocracy not bureaucracy so whatever works is quickly and easily accepted no fighting management or any such silliness, very convenient location for all transportation modes from all regions, their having a physical store means real time client feedback (unlike so many web firms); personal and team successes are happily cheerfully, quickly, and publicly rewarded. I've heard for my 11 years of working that the people make the place & I truly live it everyday, all my coworkers are great & that's over 100. It says a lot. Management literally listens as they are physically easily available. Their replies are clear, immediate, and heart-felt.

    Cons

As a contract worker, my view is limited, but B&H's famously great reputation for doing what's right for the customer shows in every tech decision we make & I'm daily so happy to do just that.

    Advice to Management

    Everyone is happy, let's continue!

I worked at B&H Photo Video (More than a year)

    Pros

B&H is a great place to work. It taught me a lot. They have an awesome training program. FULL TIME so 42hrs a week (which can also be a con) And the vacation times are awesome !!!

    Cons

Staff isn't as good though. At times it feels like it lacks culture, diversity. If you are pursuing a dream of any sort, B&H is not the place for you. It is extremely time consuming and will just become a huge weight. It feels like there is not time for anything but work.

    Advice to Management

Offer an extra day off to those who request it. Try changing schedules around a bit so that employees can still have a life outside of work
