Great job when you have the right manager

    Pros

Excellent people 20% staff discount Hard working team ethic. Everyone makes you feel welcome. Great salary & bonus when targets are not unachievable.

    Cons

Business is going through changes at the moment and losing some excellent managers with a lot of credible experience. Unfortunately the replacements seems terrible. Current breed recruited are uneducated, unprofessional and have no idea about people management resulting in a lot of 'office' unit managers not even dealing with customers when asked for or bully TM's. Long hours required yet unit managers don't work their full contracts or work Sundays even if the store is short that day.

    Pros

    Nothing that I can mention

    Cons

Do not recommend applying for B&Q in Edinburgh, unless you are a young female! Males and unliked people will be discriminated against and will see a great amount of favouritism in the store and if you mention anything you get told to mind your own business. The management will bully anyone that they don’t like and will disrespect you without thinking twice about it. The facts are not looked at, which allows groups of employees to group together and pick on you. When you first start working, there is not training provided and you just must do what you think is right but then get moaned at for not doing the right thing. Positive reinforcement is not such thing in the shop and the staff will not care about your mental wellbeing. Not a good working environment for a male whatsoever.
