I have been working at BAE Systems Applied Intelligence full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

I have been with the company for over 5 years now, started as a grad and have experienced many different roles and projects.
I now am in an internal business role and love it. Great company to work for and very much like the culture here. The company have been very forthcoming in meeting my needs and transferring me to different base locations at my request.

    Cons

Haven't really got any cons that I feel so strongly about to write down, e.g. would be nice to have a jazzier modern office like the one in London!

I have been working at BAE Systems Applied Intelligence full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Nice offices, Excellent IT, impressive induction process, interesting projects and customers, world wide travel. Having come from a company that thinks its forward thinking with technology, BAE AI is proving to be a bit of an eye opener and is streets ahead.

    Cons

Parking seems to be an issue at all AI sites, not enough of it.

    Positive Outlook

    Pros

It was good to see that the company runs a decent two-day induction course to set people off on the right foot.
Starting has been the usual admin soup but systems and processes seem relatively slick. Company has a decent intranet to find all necessary information.
    Staff seem bright and positive.
Management keen to grow the company. Some large contracts with plenty of opportunity.

    Cons

Nothing springs to mind yet. I have only been here a week so it is too early to be disillusioned.

    - I personally did not enjoy the general working atmosphere

    Advice to Management

I have been working at BAE Systems Applied Intelligence full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

My view of the "real world" of work may have been slightly warped by my parents which both said that their companies took month's to do anything! BAE Systems AI have many systems in place to make everything straight forward and efficient for all employees

    Cons

The parking at all of the sites seems to be a bit of a nightmare, especially Gloucester. You've either got to get in very early or not get a space

    Advice to Management

A lot of graduates have never been in a "real" working environment before, keep up the supportive way in which everything is run and you'll get a lot of very happy employees.

I have been working at BAE Systems Applied Intelligence full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    - Technical work is genuinely interesting

    - People are enthusiastic, smart and sociable

    - Company rewards self-starters and promotions are based on merit

    Cons

    - The facilities in Gloucester are especially poor. The company plan office space to "minimum EU requirements" and staff receiving fines due to lack of car parking space is common. This is made worse by company comms about investments in shiny overseas offices.

    - Bonus's haven't been fully paid for two years running; especially disappointing given the huge effort put in by the staff.

    - Work life balance can be poor due to committed time scales and stretched resourcing

    Advice to Management

If you want the best people, give them a truly inspiring place to work and invest in your UK office space (take a look at what Google and Facebook are doing).

Reward your people with a full bonus next year.

    Pros

Great team culture, unique challenges and you get to work with some very talented people. Personal development, particularly through training, is actively facilitated.

    Cons

Senior management appear out-of-touch with the rest of the business and compensation isn't particularly competitive (bonuses weren't paid in 2014).

    Advice to Management

    Improve compensation, promotion and benefits.
