I have been working at BAE Systems USA (More than 3 years)

    Pros

I was an intelligence contractor in Afghanistan and liked this company more the others, because they removed a lot of the barriers that distract you from your work. Also, they provided good vacations, incentives and even went to bat for our team when our client was acting extremely unethical.

    Cons

We had a regional manager who was shady, dishonest, careless and heartless. He was finally removed but it took them a year to do it.

    Advice to Management

Introduce a feedback channel of managers for employees

    Pros

It's a Big Company? That is all I can think of right now.

    Cons

Management in a constant re-org for one reason or another.

I worked at BAE Systems USA full-time

    Pros

Interesting work which provided experience across a breadth of disciplines (systems engineering, design, test, manufacturing). Starting salary was good enough. 9/80 schedule.

    Cons

Pay increases barely meet cost of living and the company was very stingy with promotions. Declining business segment resulted in regular layoffs and reorganizations. This also resulted in the business being unwilling to invest in its experienced employees.

Opportunities for advancement if you can survive the re-orgs!!

Constant re-organizations in an industry on the downturn

    Advice to Management

Give a little stability and offer more compensation based on performance

    Pros

Understanding and supportive management team that strives to recognize the importance of happy employees.

    Cons

Corporate processes and procedures are not fully aligned with the infrastructure in place at all of the various locations, which causes significant challenges for teams that do not have the tools they need to meet expectations.

    Advice to Management

A project focused on determining what the employees actually working at the lowest levels need in order to accomplish goals would greatly assist in reducing the time and effort spent to correct problems later.
