    Pros

Decent compensation. They don’t expect much other than working long hours. Parking is decent unless you work at canal street like me. It’s an extra 20 minutes just to walk in the building at canal street if you can even find parking.

    Cons

This company is very hierarchical and only experience over performance. If you didn’t grow up in BAE you will not go far with the old boys network dominating the space. Facilities are old and overcrowded.

    Advice to Management

Try modernizing. Get facilities that are big enough to House the work you bid. Stop blaming engineers when programs struggle. Blame those that bid the fictional leverage that underestimated the cost to deliver quality products.

I worked at BAE Systems USA part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Other departments will give work to do if you ask (Procurement and Accounting are pretty friendly to talk to)

    Cons

1.) Upper Level Management (at least the one in Sterling, VA)- very narcissistic and will boss you around. They will not listen to what other employees have to say
2.) Pretty sure someone stole a jacket of mine that was $200. I left to use the restroom and when I got back it was gone.

    Advice to Management

Upper Level Management- If your employees are disgruntled, DO take the time to listen to them. Instead of brushing them off and bullying them

    Pros

Decent Pay. There are no other pros at this time.

    Cons

Lack of structure, corruption of management, fire and hire too easily. Favoritism showed to certain employees while other employees were given no advancement opportunities. They do not support employees, a complete lack of flexibility. Would rather punish a single mother for needing to leave work for an emergency than work with her to accomplish the job.

    Advice to Management

Fire all of the management including the HR department and hire new to start over.

I have been working at BAE Systems USA full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Benefits nice co workers location restaurants parking nine eighty building location free parking Bank access new gym and restroom convenience store.

    Cons

Racist, Racist, Racist!!!!!!!!!!!! I work for the the I&S Sector and everything is about the bottom line financially at the expense of laying off staff, and managers insuring that they will get their annual bonuses. If you are of color or trying to make it to retirement they will not support you and lay you off to balance the budget. Such losers!!!! Managers are not supportive and kisses the bosses assess and don't support their employees and only look out for their own assess. In which I consider COWARDS!

    Advice to Management

I&S Management stop being racist and support your older employees of color and ethnicity. It's so sad that you only consider yourselves when the US/BAE Systems I&S sector is a melting pot of diverse people!!! Shame on you!!!

    Pros

Good retirement benefits but that's about it.

    Cons

Horrible place to work. They have zero regard for their employees, fraudulent activity all over the place, and they have a seriously unclean work environment.

    Advice to Management

    Follow the law.

    Pros

    Decent benefits and OK pay.

    Cons

Terrible managers. They just delegate responsibilities to engineers without regard to work loads. All they do is attend meetings all week and sign time cards. Most are clueless as to what is going on and what needs to be done to fix problems.

    Advice to Management

    Resign!

I worked at BAE Systems USA full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Good pay, sense of pride being able to help the troops. When they have contracts the faculty runs like a business should. But when layoffs start - look out for buses and keep your back to the wall.

    Cons

    Union runs the place.
Lack of support in certain departments due to the fact that their leadership is not in the "old boys club".
    6-7 day work weeks.
    Meetings to schedule meetings.
They change job titles so you have to interview for your own job. Even if you have "exceeds expectations" on all your previous reviews you are laid off for no reason.

    Advice to Management

    BAE = Business Against Ethics
Pipe Smoker was "on the Unions payroll" - talked the talk, but didn't walk the walk.
    Remember who runs the place.
Stop allowing the back alley deals.
The waste is rapid. (Time, Materials, Parts, etc.)

I worked at BAE Systems USA full-time

    Pros

Lots of talented, hard-working folks in a variety of departments. Once you reach your hours, management ensures you stop work--this is so that they don't pay you more, but also forces work-life balance.

    Cons

Comments only apply to the St. Inigoes site: poor management will not promote employees unless they present another offer from another company, HR intimidates employees rather than fixing problematic management, depressed atmosphere.

    Advice to Management

Be proactive and responsive with employee grievances with lazy/unqualified managers. Fight to compensate your employees competitively. Stop being cheap about employee morale events.

I have been working at BAE Systems USA full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

It is defense work so it is a pretty stable job
A pulse and a clearance is really all you need
    Low expectations
    Little overtime expected.

    Cons

You are there to bill hours to the government, whether or not you are actually getting anything accomplished doesn't really matter.
In general defense work is wasteful and it feels like crap blowing taxpayer dollars on worthless projects.
I worked on projects that were DARPA funded, but the commercial sector is blowing past DARPA these days.
The long term projects are just milking the government for billable hours.

    Advice to Management

Just don't hire junior engineers, you are wasting the early years of their career. That'll never happen though so to everyone reading this just stay away.
