I worked at BASF Corporation full-time

I worked at BASF Corporation full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

    Great benefits and great people

    Cons

Doesn't prioritize projects and spending well, will pay for temporary solutions before more long term permanent ones because it's cheaper.
As an employee, 12 hour shifts can be long and sometimes mandatory overtime can be unwelcome.
Believes that contracting employees is beneficial. My position eliminated after 19 years to save money.

    Advice to Management

Analyze problems better and conduct cost analysis before spending long term money on temporary fixes. Proper long term solutions would save you much better.

I have been working at BASF Corporation full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Good people, position allows me to be in total control within my area of responsibility.

    Cons

Chemical plant has exposures to unknown and known hazards. Vault job located in center of plant so exposure is great. Too much emphasis on employee shortfalls instead of analysis and investment in infrastructure and needed equipment.

    Advice to Management

Rely on you senior wokers, as they have been through most of the ins/outs in the production areas. Metal control is very lacking in the plant itself. Need independent representative to audit areas with no ties to production.

I have been working at BASF Corporation full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

This job offers good pay and benefits while also offering steady employment in most cases regardless of ups and downs within the markets. Corporate seems to care about it's employees and will follow up in times of emergencies or similar situations.

    Cons

Experiences will vary group to group, but leadership and skilled management has become a thing of the past. Things such as safety, camaraderie, and work/life balance are portrayed as top priorities, but in reality it is nothing more than a show for new hires and corporate.

    Advice to Management

Learn to lead from the front and show a genuine interest and concern in your employees and their wellbeing.. Hold all employees to the same standard regardless of their job title other factors.
