I have been working at BASF Corporation full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Supports diversity, innovative and creative ideas, work-life balance (allows work from home a couple days per week). Salary is highly competitive and because the company is a well-rounded diversified business, it continues to outperform and grow in the markets/industries they serve. Strong, long-term company stability. Benefits are excellent. Many employees have stayed with the company for their entire careers, high amount of PhDs, MBAs and graduate degrees among young employees.

    Cons

Very large company and like all companies of this size has difficulties with bureaucracy and quick decisions/responses. Silos exist and breaking down barriers to cross-BU collaboration is slow.

    Advice to Management

Work on making the company better accessible to customers as well as internal employees. Reduce complexity. Focus on staying competitive and sustaining the global market leader position.

I have been working at BASF Corporation full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Very diverse company with a lot of opportunity to learn new things. Management is focused always on employee development.

    Cons

Very bureaucratic, and with so many employees, sometimes difficult to move things forward and to feel you own contributions. Can be stifling sometimes as ideas sometimes come strictly from headquarters without consideration of effect.

    Advice to Management

Practice some of the advanced technigues that we all share instead of just talking about them and issuing them like proclamations.

    Pros

Being a research focused company, I, even as a recruiter, am constantly learning from my hiring managers.

    Cons

It is a large global matrixed organization, you must be someone who can manage through this type of structure.

    Advice to Management

Continuous communication is essential for employees to continue to remain connected to management.

I have been working at BASF Corporation full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

    Pay and benefits are tops.

    Cons

    Shallow use of talented employees

    Advice to Management

Lighten your education requirements for higher level positions. Not everyone that has a Phd or Masters or BS is guaranteed to succeed. Plus it makes for ego friction at upper levels with those few having had fortunate educational opportunities exhibiting myopic scope in business and process design.
