I have been working at BB&T full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Good benefits, work life balance, many tenured employees.

    Cons

Stingy with raises, no tuition reimbursement

    Advice to Management

Move some corporate jobs to be remote to give extra opportunities. They don’t have to all be in WS or Raleigh.

    Lessen the 18 month requirement

I have been working at BB&T full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

They start you with 10 vacation days plus 10 paid federal holidays off and give you an option to purchase up to an additional week of vacation. There's a free employee health clinic that's separate from you're health insurance. No copay or deductible, and they even give you free prescriptions. Of the banks that have tried recruiting me, BB&T has a higher base salary. The company minimum wage is $15! The department executives are very approachable.

    Cons

Being in a difficult branch can make it difficult to advance your career. No opportunities to earn incentive bonuses. Some of the processes are outdated. Also certain departments have zero diversity (I'm not sure if that's just by coincidence)

    Advice to Management

There needs to be more diversity in all departments and job functions. There should be opportunities for self-starter employees, who have a desire to advance, to be paired with a mentor

I have been working at BB&T full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Folksy, salt-of-the-earth people-- from management down
Ability to take end-to-end ownership of projects

    Cons

Company going through growing pains-- getting larger but mentality of small corner bank.
Not a market leader -- content to be a market follower

At the end of the day all pros/cons are about style. If your style is a slower work pace, being treated like family in a Southern environment, seriously consider BB&T. If you are looking for a fast-paced market leader with urban sophistication, this company is not for you.

    Advice to Management

    Token executives are obvious.

    Pros

Benefits, Small Community Bank, Upper Management visible

    Cons

Technology, Good Ole Boy Environment, no diversity in management and upper management roles, Systems issues way too often

    Advice to Management

Stop throwing people in positions and make sure they are fully trained. This will ensure customers are properly taken care of because your employees are knowledgeable. Please upgrade your technology across the board for better efficiency - this will increase customer and employee morale.

I have been working at BB&T full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Upper management is always helpful. Some good people to work with. 2018 minimum rate of $15 per hour. 6% 401-k match. Stable company. Room for growth in movement to management or other levels as long as you have the education or experience.

    Cons

Your direct supervisor on the teller like may be horrible. If so it’s very difficult to work because your life is now a drama movie, where everything is a big deal. Workplace is a very fast environment. Clients often get mad about waiting in line. No music. Very quiet all day. A lot of stress. Never get home on time. They expect you to take extra time on your lunch break for when you run over your time at nights. They won’t pay overtime. They won’t let you progress from the teller line. It’s a fight the whole way to get more training. Responsibilities are not shared between Employees, so if you start something you’ll be doing it till you quit.

    Advice to Management

Fire the people that keep bring up drama! Nobody needs that and that person is making life hell for the rest of us.
